BOOKA SHADE – Bad Love (Remixes) [Co-Op / Get Physical Music]

One of the many tracks that Booka Shade can honestly call their “finest,” ‘Bad Love’ sits on the top of any contender as the real champ of the future progressive sound but not without handing the baton once, twice and back round again to cohorts Azari & III, Tim Green, Groove Armada & Cassius.

Euphoria seems to be the word of the moment with yours truly recently, so apologises in reusing that same descript-feeling in regards to Azari & III’s remix of ‘Bad Love.’ Acid house auras are abound however, stirred in with that ol’ ultra-cool, electro-techno slap back sound, containing a rich & dark techyness to it making it radiate brilliantly throughout beginning to end.

UK’s Tim Green smashes it massively with a rollin’ and randomized collage of drums, drum solos and even more drum improvisations that would surely make Lars from Metallica a little bit jealous. Groove Armada finally, sums things up with a world class imparting of crisp techy house and some fantastic earthy piano-chords. Its another array of glorious remixes for the EDM Hall Of Fame!

GRUM – More Remixes!

There is no mistaking Grum’s flare while on the dancefloor. The DJ/Producer has recently added a few new billets to the summer/fall lineup and it is looking pretty damn good. If you’re currently residing in Europe or Australia you may want to take a gander. His shows are dynamic, phenomenal and consistent!

These few tracks listed below are new additions to the site. A couple are more recent but like most of Grum’s remixes they grasp a whole new concept of good. One of my favourites is the new Gamble & Burke mix to their new single, Lets Go Together. Check them below and always support Grum by purchasing more music here!

The scary thing is, the best is yet to come.

Round Up #2: Monarchy. Evan Voytas. Beatfanatic. Super Mal. Classixx. Penguin Prison.

What the fuccck is a Round-Up?

AN Definition: Round Up [round] [uhp] (n.)

- Is my way of trying to keep with life and music at the same time for the next little while.

For a more detailed explanation:

Overwhelmed with school I’m forced to do round-ups for the next month or so.  I don’t have the time to individually wrap up some of these artists below… or those in the coming weeks for that matter. For that I apologize as everyone of these featured artists deserves their own spotlight and their own extensive tribute. My comrades will no doubt keep you updated as usual while I slow down so there’s no need to worry about a lack of material hitting the site. But I figured I deserved you all an explanation for the slight deviated role and appearance you’ll see in March. I prefer to do the one artist-per-post style like the old AN so expect that to return late April if not sooner!

Much respect goes out to those who hit my round-ups… you are keeping me sane through the toughest part of my degree.  If successful I’ll see you on the other side of the stage- diploma in hand. Ha, wish me luck.

The New Music: January, wk 4

ace-of-base

The past week I have been jiving to some really retro tunes in preparation for a local 90s event this coming 30th. Being in the mood I thought I should freshen up the old retro playlist. Scavenging the world wide web for new tunes, I found a really cool twist on Ace of Base’s classic 90s song “All That She Wants.”

All That She Wants (Messkid Skull&Bones Remix) – Ace Of Base

Next is a classy mix of ZZZ by the Bag Raiders. It has become one of my new favourites to toss on during some homework or even just to kill some silent air. The piano in the song really accompanies the mix well. I think its a gem, which isn’t bad being only a few weeks into ’09.

Lion (Bag Raiders Remix) – ZZZ

An added bonus:

Earlier this month, we showcased The Twelves remix to Groove Armada’s “Drop The Tough” released by Bacardi B-Live Share (see post for details). B-Live Share has released the Van She rendition of “Drop The Tough,” and although it may not be The Twelves remix, it still offers a unique vibe to a stellar track.

The New Music: January, wk 3.

2009 is still early. As new styles and trends will no doubt change and modify the scene over the course of the next year, this section will showcase some of the new weekly favourites that emerge. Already a little behind being in week 3, here are a few new tracks that made an impact over the last week.

Bacardi B-Live Share is a new platform for downloading and sharing music. The platform launches on January 20th including the new release of some brand new remixes from Groove Armada. A release of The Twelves remix to “Drop The Tough” has already been leaked. Based on this track the remaining songs set to be released look very promising. As well, Van She is rumoured to have made contributions to the project.

sqzmlmns (pronounced ‘squeeze my lemons’) is a brand new duo hailing from Mexico, emerging from the music scene of San Diego where they should continue to get noticed. I could ramble about how much I enjoy this new track Oakland from saul q and kid wonder but it should do the talking for me. Check their MySpace page for more songs and info.
