JAMIROQUAI – Runaway (Remixes) [Sony BMG Music]

A tremendous amount of vigour, true-soul and genuine intensity has been brushed into these grandslam of remixes – courtesy of what can only be called as a dream team of house music producers that celebrate this past “High Times” LP single release.

Authentic smiles beamed all around and the everlasting richness of that beautiful love which emanates from all that Alan Braxe & Fred Falke, Grant Nelson and Tom Belton bring to the cause, will leave nothing but good dinner table conversation afterwards and positive breakfast mornings tales for all those feeling a bit lucky! 2006 WAS a good year after all!

February 2011 Recap

KELE OKEREKE – Everything You Wanted (Punks Jump Up / Mujava & Qness / Falke Remixes) [Polydor]

I can’t help but smile to myself every time I hear Kele’s vocal on tracks now because not only has he branched himself away from Bloc Party’s quick but yet worthy career declaration, he’s managed since then to attach himself onto some fantastic remixes and align himself briefly with a certain person who is now known as the “Greatest DJ of All Time.”

As well as that, I will always find parts of his vocal range extremely distinctive for when I’m trying to sing back the tunes to myself!

So well done Kele, keep on rockin’ those lyrics!!

‘Everything You Wanted’ has been up there subtly for a while, but we bring it back down to earth in its exhilarated stance by the Punks Jump Up Remix Dub and DJ Mujava’s & DJ Qness’s Club Serenity Dub to give it that extended kiss of life.

On the bonus additional link is the Fred “this man seems to be everywhere” Falke version, so do enjoy that edit – Freddy Falke die-hards!

Amazing chords all round!!!!!

KE$HA – We R Who We R (Fred Falke Dub) [RCA]

Ke$ha has never sounded better on a Fred Falke remix, because wonderfully so, this version contains none of her vocals!

Yippee!!

Jokings aside though.. her vocal isn’t really ‘that’ bad.. and ironically, it was one of her vocal lead remixes that brought me to do this review in the first place, so kudos in having a UK number one single Ke$ha (and don’t do a Gaga by wearing KFC bucket surprises or kebab strips to any future Grammy awards okay?)

FALKE FANS: take note on this one..

Bystanders… you’re welcome into the world of Freddy Falke too!

LIFEHOUSE – Halfway Gone (Remixes EP) [Geffen]

Hailing from California, United States, multi-platinum rock stars Lifehouse have been greatly releasing and crafting away since the year 1999. Throughout this time they have had a two of their band members replaced and released five studio albums, but unlike other rock bands in years gone by, these two former members in question left on good spirits.

Halfway Gone’ is their present single release from the 2010 album “Smoke & Mirrors” featuring a tasty line-up of producers. It’s a shame that last year came and went by without me hearing a single dicky bird about Lighthouse, but in reflection of a band who’s origins stem from that old sub genre of rock (grunge) and a release which supports some credible remixers, then Falke, Broeder and Page feature very highly in taking this band out there to a more EDM orientated audience.

FRED FALKE – Back To Stay [Work It Baby]

Whirling out a devastating and uplifting intro to kick start proceedings on the ol’ music review front, is yet another “Saturday night slammer from Alabama…” from the man they call… Mr. Fred “By-Godddd,” Falke!!!!!

This guy sure does have his Weetabix, Lucky Charms and Alpen all nicely synced for his rotated breakfast menu come the mornings – so just between you & me, ‘Back To Stay‘ is right up there with the best!

Known recently for his outstanding work on Sia’s track entitled ‘Clap Your Hands’ and his brilliant collaboration with Burns on ‘Y.S.L.M. (You Stopped Loving Me),’ this AA side follows on the trend in bringing home the goods in a cool but yet fresh disco ball like fashion, whilst not going too over the top, a’la Saturday Night Fever The Musicial.

Tasty to every last audio bite, Fred Falke produces an underground record which still sounds relevant in 2011 and extremely punchy with every last chord too with his cover of ‘Chicago’ feat. Teff Ballert (which was originally written by Roy Ayers) featuring on the A side.

Below average producers may come and go, but great ones remain steadfast. Mr Fred Falke, oh extraordinaire, we salute you!

JUSTICE – D.A.N.C.E. (Alan Braxe & Fred Falke Remix) [Ed Banger]

Talking of legends, its time to revisit a true modern day classic which falls under the schooling of ⅓ Stardust member Alan Braxe and fellow partner in crime in all things amazing and French.. Vulture Music’s own producer.. Mr. Fred “ever amazing” Falke.

Justice is a group which needs no introduction also, but for those who don’t know, they consist of two members named Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Augé (who are two VERY crazy individuals & avid party animals!), they both hail from France and they belong to the ever-creative Ed Banger records stable where their label manager Pedro Winter aka Busy P used to manage Daft Punk.

Alan Braxe & Fred Falke direct over five mins of ultra-smooth melody & chords, glossed over with pleasurable reminders of Justice’s patent ‘do-the-dance, do-the-dance’ vocal. Lessons on how to accomplish a remix with longevity and integrity are littered about in detail and if I was to have this remix to accompany a soundtrack to my meticulous life, then ‘doing the dance’ would sum up my mindset all-night-long!

Totally essential!

FLASHWORX – Two Guys In Japan EP [SpaceWalker Recordings]

Be still and ready for a delightful French sounding diamond coming via the NOW corrected location of Geneva, Switzerland and not the UAE (blush blush)…

Inspired, blissful strokes of Phoenix-like tones a’la Daft Punk a’la Fred Falke melodies are all over this record, so shut your eyes, clip that recliner back and imagine that breathtaking fresh sunshine oozing right all-over those audio radars of yours. As Pete Tong would say, ‘This Is Essential.’

Robyn – Dancing On My Own

Robyn had arguably one of the best years of her career in 2010. She put together one of, if not, the best dance album of the year (Body Talk) and saw tons of fans and artists flock her way. This Fred Falke remix of Dancing On My Own is one of the best remixes from that last album. It holds onto the original pop backdrop while adding the typically Falke-like electric flare.

In the next few weeks Robyn is headed to the GTA to perform at The Sound Academy (Jan.26.2011). Click here for tickets to that.

Marina & The Diamonds + Fred Falke!

Yes you heard right! Marina and Falke have teamed up in a new Shampain remix.  I should have posted this earlier but the net was screwing with me. However, it’s better to be a week late than to never have arrived at all!

This remix delivers. But knowing these two I wouldn’t expect anything less. Falke uses his delicious disco-synth ability to compliment the haunting and dark vocals provided by the always stellar Marina Diamandis. We here at A/N have been watching her intently since Neon brought her into stardom with The Crown Jewels EP in 2009 and later with the Mowgli’s Road singles. Both are so damn good. You can find them in the archives here.

As for Falke, what can I say? The man’s a genius.

Miami Horror!

Miami Horror continues to evolve. From old-school party jams to modern day pop anthems, the act still has it. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia Miami Horror has evolved into a large electro act including Josh Moriarty, Aaron Shanahan, Daniel Whitechurch and the talented producer and project creator Benjamin Plant. Before the trio tagged along, Plant had already gained a following using the Miami Horror alias to produce a few exceptional remixes, one being Stardust’s Music Sounds Better With You.

As Miami Horror, Plant made his commercial debut in 2008 with a five-track EP, ‘Bravado’, on Virgin Records. The EP features the song “Don’t Be On with Her”, for which a promotional video was released online. Miami Horror has since been signed to EMI Music for distribution in Australia and France.

Check out more Miami Horror here! They are performing all across the United States the next month. If you’re in North America maybe you can make these dates.

The top two featured tracks are from the album Illumination that dropped August 20.2010. Pick it up here! As a little bonus included below are my own personal favourites.

Zero 7 – Destiny [Fred Falke Remix]

Fred Falke resurfaced last week with another delicious soft and sensual mix to Zero 7′s Destiny. The track is brilliantly laced with soft disco touches throughout. This post marks the 12th time in 10 months Falke has hit our site. He is a mastermind. Well versed in the art of dance, funk, and soul! Here is the latest, which I’m sure everyone will give their stamp of approval.

Filthy Dukes [Remixes]

Filthy Dukes live up to their name. They are straight filthy! After coming across some new mixes that revamped my library I had to share them with everybody. So keep in mind, they may not be new to everyone who crosses this blog but still worth posting regardless. The synth-pop band based out of London, England is Olly Dixon (electric percussion/guitar), Tim Lawton (synthesisers, lead vocalist) and Mark Ralph (bass guitar, backing vocals). Their debut album was Nonsense in the Dark released on Mar 16.09 and since then the crew haven’t looked back having played DJ sets as openers for acts such as Mylo, Hot Chip, and LCD Soundsystem. While they still only have their debut album to fall back on, the trio are geared to produce some fantastic stuff in the future so stay tuned.

I’m starting to get in a rhythm sharing a hybrid of new and old for each artist in each post so as per usual, check out some archive material as a bonus. The remix to Hockey’s Learn To Lose is a fantastic wayback playback that deserves some attention since the Stanley Cup Playoffs are well underway.

Breakbot & Fred Falke [Bringin' It Back Again]

Missed these two gems sometime last week, my bad, but I like them too damn much not to share. Breakbot is a magician in his own unique genre. Absolutely flawless and always creative with his mixes. These help solidify that statement. The new Annie Mac remix is pretty grand and the Make You Mine remix is a bit of a throwback, but equally great in its own historic way.
