The Other Tribe – Don’t Need No Melody

The Other Tribe are a live 6 piece Bristol based band who have been very busy lately collaborating with the mighty Steve Dub, who has been helping
produce their work. A double release is due on Black Butter recordings in the following few months and we would love to know what our readers think of them. They were also just voted best live act of 2011 by Bristol’s very own Hijack.

They are supporting We Have Band at the Cooler in Bristol on February 24th. In addition to the stellar music they also have a full visual show lined up so if you’re in the area we hope to see you there.

Calvin Harris – Feel So Close

After a few months of listening to Calvin Harris’ single Feel So Close, I can honestly say it has officially grown on me. The multi-talented Scottish DJ, Producer and Singer has created the perfect bassline to accompany his vocals. It’s catchy, invigorating and delightful. The song debuted at number two in Ireland, becoming his highest-charting single in the country. In the United Kingdom, the song debuted at number two becoming Harris’ sixth solo top 10 single. Lately everything he touches turns to dance-like gold.

Check out hype machine for remixes by  Nero, Benny Bennassi and Dillon Francis.

Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks (SAUR Bootleg)

The new remix from SAUR, is his rendition of Foster The People’s “Pumped Up Kicks”. Granted, there are a million “Pumped Up Kicks” remixes floating around, but how many of those are dripping with SAUR’s dirty-dutch demeanor? Not many, so try something new and enjoy an excellent freebie from Holland, Pennsylvania’s SAUR

RUSKO

Rusko has redefined all that is dubstep. Once graduated from Leeds College of Music with a degree in Music Performance, Rusko became heavily immersed in the world of Dubstep through the Leeds based event “Sub Dub” and the closely connected Northern counterpart of Digital Mystikz “DMZ” events, which were both held at the West Indian Centre. Rusko moved to London to work with the record labels Sub Soldiers and Stingray Records and connect with now no longer associated act Caspa. Together the two honed a new sound that was unlike any other.

Rusko made his production debut in 2006 on Dub Police with the song SNES Dub.By 2007 he released Babylon, Vol. 1 with Sub Soldiers. Steering away from the darker side of Dubstep, Rusko brought an upbeat sound to the scene that appealed to many outside the community. Rusko’s extremely successful hit Cockney Thug has appeared on various DJ sets and mixes including Pete Tong, Switch, M.I.A. and Santigold. His music has been remixed by artists Buraka Som Sistema as well as Drop the Lime, Scratch Perverts, Sub Focus and fellow act Caspa. Rusko also did his own productions and remixes of artists like Adele and A-Trak featuring Kid Sister.

Rusko worked with M.I.A. on her third album release Maya. Rusko’s newest album release is titled OMG and was released on Mad Decent Records on 3 May 2010 in the United Kingdom and 4 May 2010 in the United States.

He is also said to have worked on tracks with Rihanna and T.I. and has produced optional material for Britney Spears’ upcoming album. On November 8, 2010 Rusko’s house and production studio in Silverlake caught on fire. The fire started when Belinda’s Porsche caught fire in his carport. He managed to save the hard drives from the studio computers.

As a thank you for Christopher Mercer’s notorious work in the studio, we have a selection of hard pressed historic beats from the English producer. Check out the past below.

Mirror People – Reaction 12″

Mirror People’s new Reaction 12″ is out now! The release marks a turning point in electronic ambient beats from Portugal’s own Rui Maia. With delicious breaks, soothing dips, and classical piano interludes, Maia rediscovers a bit of his own musical past while recreating a brand new contemporary selection in the process. The album is released courtesy of Hands of Time Records.

Having already made his point in several remixes (one being the devastatingly good mix of Neon Indian – find it here), Mirror People are making themselves a force in the industry with their own unique originals. Catch much, much more online at mirrorpeople.net.

AL RIPKEN JR – Captain Cougar EP

Absolutely unusual & positively peculiar in every bit of its stream (whilst not without sounding like these were the instrumentals left over from a one-time n’ rare Twilight Zone-brainstorming-session with Lady Gaga, M.I.A. and the ambiguous, behind the scenes producer of Nadia Oh all combined..) Al Ripken Jr makes the world an offer that they cannot refuse and hires in a ferocious looking cat for good company too.

With repeat listens as your advice, play at your Baltimore and “lazer-like” peril Ladies & Gentlemen. Tetris anyone?

NADIA OH – Kate Middleton (SAiNT Remix)

Providing more S&M coverage than the back end of Rihanna’s pert backside, SAiNT drop a blatant, no-novelty-business, royal-wedding-afterparty- attack of Nadia Oh’s, shocker of-the-moment-title… Kate Middleton.

SAiNT’s own self-titled terms of War House, B-More, LA Hard House and Tropical Bass sum up their fever pitch sound, which sounds as amazing as Arsenal FC’s win was over Manchester United this past Sunday afternoon.

Hold onto your bass bins and ears Ladies and Gents as this may take a few more listens…

Metric – Satellite Mind [Hipneck Remix]

Urban Diction Definition: Hipneck

A rural dweller who combines elements of both hippy and redneck culture. Typical in areas where traditional conservative employment (logging, grazing) has collapsed or been replace by more lucrative alternative agriculture… Part Hipster. Part Redneck. All the way awesome!

The innovative producer who recently won our very own Aerial Noise 2011 Spring Mini Mix competition is back with a new gem to Metric’s Satellite Mind. With a refreshing slowed pace, Hipneck redesigns the backdrop to emphasize Emily Haines vocals and in doing so, creates a compelling mix that kicks the originals ass.

This is a great take from a Canadian producer on a Canadian Indie Rock band. Thanks for sending this in Hipneck. Be sure to check out the winning mix he sent us earlier through the above link.

Jon Fratelli – Santo Dominga

Jon Fratelli has just finished recording his as yet untitled debut solo album in LA with producer Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, Depeche Mode, The Fratellis!). Here’s a little taste of what’s to come thanks to the Neon Trees!

*     *     *

Jon first came to fame as frontman of The Fratellis, a trio of unruly Glaswegians whose 2006 debut album ‘Costello Music’, featuring the monster hits ‘Chelsea Dagger’, ‘Henrietta’ and ‘Creepin Up The Backstairs’, sold over a million copies and earned the band a BRIT award.  The band were also successful in the US where their song ‘Flathead’ soundtracked an iPod advert in 2007 and in 2010 ‘Chelsea Dagger’ was taken up as a theme tune by the Chicago Blackhawks ice hockey team (who after a 60 year drought won the prestigious Stanley Cup this season!).  The Fratellis’ second album ‘Here We Stand’ was released in the summer of 2008 and the success story continued around the globe with hit singles ‘Mistress Mabel’ and ‘Look Out Sunshine’.  Without a pause for breath the band fulfilled a relentless touring schedule that took them all over the world.  After touring Japan and Australia in early 2009 The Fratellis decided to take a break.  At the end of 2009 Jon teamed up with Lou Hickey as Codeine Velvet Club.  And now well… here we are.

Santo Domingo is out 11th April via Island Records

Thomas Bangalter – Falling In Love ♥

Continuing on… we have one great classic track to throw down to you all today- Thomas Bangalter’s Falling In Love. With disco punches and kicks, Bangalter takes us on a long rolling journey back to his roots. In doing so, we get to catch some samples and loops that are spun so meticulously well that his perfection in music appears to unravel before your very ears.

This track is from the Best of Roulé album, which you can all grab off Last.FM.

Deadmau5 + Stealth Mode

Stealth Mode has taken a completely different approach to Deadmau5′s track Sofi Needs A Ladder. There is a dreamy chord breakdown with a bunch of high pressured drops throughout.

The Electro/Progressive DJ from Vancouver, BC is releasing tracks via his myspace page. Check those out for more. As a bonus find his previous release included below, entitled To The End.

Entyce feat. Hazel + Oliver Twizt

The first release from Coco Machete Records this year features the rhythmic pounding of Entyce and Hazel remixed right by Utecht’s Oliver Twizt. The Fukkk Offf remixes (also featuring Hazel) from the archives became an underground summer anthem for 2010 and now with remixes from the Netherlands’ own Oliver Twizt and Moscow’s Polymorphic, In Da Club is ready to tear things up again for 2011. Both remixes have a full vocal mix and an equally devastating dub for the beatdown.

We only have the one to share but it’s hot as hell and will keep your party dancing into the early hours of the morning.

The Prodigy + TEMABES

The Prodigy have never sounded so good. Ever.

This electrified remix came to us courtesy of TEMABES. A violent electronic based trio from Moscow who throw down hard. And we do mean hard. If this beat doesn’t get you pumping at all you may want to check yourself out… because you might be dead.

Adam Polo

Adam Polo has a relatively new One EP released off Fomule Records. A label that the talented DJ and producer founded himself. Situated somewhere between house and electro, Adam Polo’s DJ sets have proved their worth on the dance floor. These tracks are exemplary examples of what he brings to the table.

Acid and distortion are the key words of these two’ tracks. Turn off the lights, turn it up loud and lets party!
