After a year of sold-out reunion shows criss-crossing the world from Hollywood to Mumbai, legendary EDM duo Gabriel & Dresden kick off 2012 with “Servo vs. Colossus” – a collaboration with synth guru, Francis Prève.
“Servo vs. Colossus” is a knockout tour-de-force that fuses electro with techno, crossing stylistic boundaries as only this trio can. Originating as a mashup of two of Prève’s original tracks, “Servo” and “Colossus”, Gabriel & Dresden have placed their unmistakable thumbprint on the finished product, resulting in a six-minute opus that has served as a centerpiece for G&Ds sets since the summer of ’11.
First appearing as an edited version on Gabriel & Dresden’s now classic 2011 mix CD, “Mixed For Feet Volume 1″ (Armada), “Servo vs. Colossus” garnered instant acclaim from both G&D and Prève fans alike last fall. Considering the amount of buzz that surrounded the collaboration, the trio has opted to release the full length version of “Servo vs. Colossus” on Prève’s shiny new imprint, Academik, to kick off 2012 with a bang.
Starting out hard with Gabriel & Dresden’s signature toms-plus-trance drum sound, “Servo vs. Colossus” grabs the floor and refuses to let go, even as Prève’s assault of analog hooks skyrocket the groove to dizzying heights. Then, after a few wholly unexpected twists and turns in the journey, G&D deliver not one, but two brilliant breakdowns keeping the energy at peak intensity throughout the trip.
Coming from a group of artists who have collectively made their mark in the club world, with Gabriel & Dresden’s decade-long string of hits like “As The Rush Comes” and “Tracking Treasure Down”, as well as Prève’s recent classics, “Yin” and “Yang” (with Wolfgang Gartner), “Servo vs. Colossus” is poised to pack floors from its January release on Beatport all the way through WMC and SXSW.
MacKenzie Johnson, better known as DJ MAKJ, uncovered a passion for mixing and DJ’ing at only 15 years of age. After receiving the opportunity to live overseas in China, the teenager grabbed hold of his first set of Technics 1200 Turntables.
As he experimented with the new equipment, Johnson also took advantage of his foreign exposure and critically studied the technical nuances and styles set before him in the most popular clubs. No longer would DJ’ing be a new-found passion, but a thriving career path awaiting his discovery.
As a 17-year-old Johnson made his way back to the United States, he returned with a unique outlook and greater ambition than ever before. The insight Johnson acquired abroad aided him in gaining incredible local momentum; Johnson found himself being repeatedly invited to DJ countless local University and Community College events and concerts. Johnson’s exposed creativity and diversity as an artist deservingly awarded him with much critical acclaim and positive reception.
Johnson has extended his talent to notable venues in the greater California area at San Francisco’s Infusion Lounge and The Ambassador, Sacramento’s Dream Ultra Lounge and The Park in Sacramento, San Luis Obispo’s Mothers Tavern and Native Lounge, and Arizona’s Cream Stereo Lounge. Internationally, he has DJed in Macau, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Johnson was also the World Extreme Cagefighting “WEC” MMA West Coast DJ, Tachi Palace & Casino MMA DJ, NOS “Hot Import Nights” 2009 Season DJ, Coca-Cola Bay Area DJ for all corporate events, 2009 Love Fest Float DJ, and played at Fresh Entertainment 2010 fresh anniversary Rave in LA.
Johnson has since ventured into broader professional territory. He has been welcomed into the New York-based Crooklyn Clan as a featured artist; consistently producing immensely popular tracks/remixes among fellow DJs. Renowned artists such as Tiesto, Hardwell, Laidback Luke, DJ Chuckie, Steve Aoki, DJ R3hab, Wolfgang Gartner, just to name a few have all supported DJMAKJ’s tracks since his competitive debut in the realm of professional DJing and Production.
Most recently, MAKJ has joined Goom Radio, an outstanding achievement on its own. The online radio station specializes in customized radio for its listeners using the highest caliber of sound technology. DJMAKJ is currently the freshest DJ featured on the popular “In The Club” station on Goom. DJMAKJ is the second DJ on the West Coast to represent Goom Radio. His 60 min mixshows will be broadcasted every Saturday on 92.3 NY & Goom Radio’s online station.
At only 20 years of age, Mackenzie Johnson has achieved an almost unfathomable amount of success. His dedication to his craft and ambition to surpass any and all competitors will further propel DJMAKJ higher than he ever imagined.

Life throws up many curve balls.. some regarding the weather, some regarding the way the London Underground tube service runs, or some regarding the way pedantic company representatives work.
Much like being sent home to correct your attire, justifying that whole reasoning by “looks” alone and then having the gall to clarify it by saying that “you look like shit” from the beginning of the day … ??!!
Is that a fair assessment to give by declaring one thing, and then saying another … ? No.
Just another bureaucrat amongst this ultra big world, flying around with zero intelligence (nor empathy) and pop bellying his trotters around – much unlike the way the company internally wants its very own employees to treat its very own customers.
How about buying some actual brain cells eh??? Lets just thank our lucky stars that we can give Paul Chambers a mighty big thumbs up (& a Ric Flair 4 Horsemen salute) and a certain individual at company HQ a massive thumbs down for life.
“Yeah Techno” – Indeed!!! (Thank you Soulwax !!!!!)

Uniquely individual and absolutely ideal for the summer seasons/Ibiza/all the great festivals looming, ‘Absentium’ by Siwell hits those blue sky spots on target and tee’s away less Tiger Woods urges that would cause even a 30 year nymphomaniac addict to blush! Containing a caddy’s worth pack of melody, the grooves are certainly catchy – with the xylophone key stabs glistening heaps! Lush!

Latin/Spanish is a wonderful language isn’t it? And even more beautiful when it’s intercoursed with electronic dance music! ‘Cava’ with Abel Ramos & Mark Simmons promote that fact quite nicely and throw in an ol’ high standard thumbs up towards the great city of Amsterdam (via The Netherlands!). Quite a positive cross combination!
(ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) – We’ve got you in our sights as well!)

ABEL RAMOS & MARK SIMMONS – Cava (Abel Ramos Amsterdam With Love Mix)
If this wasn’t too careful, this could easily turn into a Basement Jaxx record from just the intro alone … Lacklustre comparisons aside, DJ Monxa presents us with a wonderful reminder of the roots of disco bliss and the magic of full on house music. La Titina-Great!
The 2011 Miami Music Conference n’ all its South Beach parties are well and truly over for another year, but that can only give way to a great big smiley face of pure Ibiza-looking greatness for the horizons! Ahh-Ring-Dee-Ding-Ding!!!
This ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ sampled tune by Miami Inc and remixed by Sean Finn, is pure gold!

More happier than a group of twenty four to thirty five year old ladies on Prozac, and less time clock watching as a hugely tedious work-shift, Ali Wilson knocks out a tech trance version on Kele’s “Annie-are-you-okay?” Okereke – pretty damn nicely!
Ali Wilson’s dub mix filters Kele’s vocal through this seven and twenty second journey, but leaves lots of ample room for the main build of the production to feed through effectively. Terrific for the clubs and terrific for the music-heads, it’s drool-tastic to the mouths for whomever loves this sound. Apex marks!

SAUR is currently working on his first EP, and wanted to share a potential track, “Friendly Duck”. The Holland, PA native recently debuted a pair of originals, “Flootahton” and “Big Fat Bass”, showing Igor Makhlin, AKA SAUR, is not just an excellent remixer, but a Dutch House connoisseur as well. The EP will be arriving in the near future for SAUR, who has recently joined First Class Music, and you can keep up with him on Twitter here…
One of us has the luxury of working out in Muskoka this summer before catching a flight out of Canada [Hopefully a world tour is ahead] but I just wanted everyone to know just how fucking beautiful this region is. Speaking from experience which has me boating almost every day and playing beats every night, Muskoka is the place you want to be this summer. Clubs, resorts, women, booze, and parties are what’s lined up and it couldn’t get any better.
While that’s all fantastic, my internet can sometimes go in and out so until I get back into the inbox, here’s a few catchy mainstream beats to mix into your party. Get ‘em before someone yells at me. Brap!
