NICKY RAGE vs. SKRILLEX vs. LA ROUX

Besides the bad idea of layering Busta Rhymes vocals over Tiësto vs. Diplo – ‘C’mon,’ Nicky Rage sends us his own genius mixtape of tight n’ spacey lyrical flow over Skrillex’s unbelievable remix of La Roux’s, ‘In For The Kill.’

Totally refreshing to hear this in this context, so if you haven’t heard the Original umpteenth times already, then get ready to inject a new audio outtake on your very La Roux ears!

Nice one Nicky!

LA ROUX – In For The Kill (Skrillex Remix) (Nicky Rage Re-Vocal-Edit)

Wale [Attention Delegate]

Wale is one interesting character. The D.C .vocalist has revamped a bunch of electro beats in his Attention Delegate compilation, which is available for free off of bandcamp. The blend works surprisingly well together. To show this off we off the revamp with Sam Sparro’s Black N’ Gold is on display below. It is very reminiscent of Drake’s partnership with The Crookers a few years back in how rap can have a positive impact on some great oldies.

The PR statement goes a little something like this:

It’s delegate now, not deficit, because with the selections we handpicked from mixtapes, remixes, mash-ups, and the album itself, there would no longer be a lack of attention for the superbly talented artist.  See the full spectrum of Wale Folarin from start to finish with Artistic Manifesto’s “Attention Delegate.”

KRIS KROSS – Jump (Super Cat Mix) [Ruffhouse Records]

“OLD SKOOOOOOL!!!!!”

This track needs absolutely no introduction does it????

It’s totally timeless… and undisputedly, one of the many king-sized rap tracks of the nineties – bar none!

Showcasing a not so much over-played mix of ‘Jump,’ is the Super Cat mix which you see before your eyes. It features a pleasant, but yet credible, ragga lyrical burst throughtout the mid refrain and includes plenty of wicked turntable scratches too.

Anything new & additional is always welcomed to assist that never-tireless-energy that always makes us wanna go “JumpJump!

TURN IT UP!

VANILLA ICE – Ice Ice Baby (New Romantic Mix) [SBK Records]

Back in 2009/2010 there was an absolutely dodgy ‘housewives choice version’ of this track that re-surfaced slightly via the help of some immature, UK, pre schooler twins. They actually managed to rope in the actual Vanilla Ice (from out of his hiding place) and back into THEIR own public domain which was “not cool” to see in the slightest.

To top that all off, Halifax – the UK’s most, well-known building society – (with no sense and decorum), decided to use the ‘Ice Ice Baby’ idea in one of their adverts just to TRY and make themselves look ‘cool and with-it’ with the general public in an (hand over ones embarrassed face) attempt to advertise their most recent mortgage policy.

Cringing nonetheless, I hope that any inadvertent, continued listening to V.I.’s Original hasn’t put you off the tune of ‘Ice Ice Baby’ altogether, as I’m about to reveal a virtually unheard and unknown remix that sprung up on a 2008 CD from the very man himself.

See what you think about this New Romantic remix and don’t be afraid to drop back any comments Aerials!

Holy Ghost vs. Biggie Smalls

Unable to escape the bassline similiarites, Its Overture created a mashup of Holy Ghost’s newest release Do It Again with Biggie’s Hypnotize. It’s good for your ears and perfect for our site. For more blends the guys have a large list available via soundcloud where you can gander over and listen/download at your own will.

The Hood Internet [CFCF + Ice Cube]

Binary did it again! The blog turned record label enlightened me with the Chicago-base duo The Hood Internet’s It Was A Rainy Day mashup. It’s a track meant for “the party after the afterparty.” First of all, CFCF is absolutely amazing. I love their sound and if you have been following us since the very beginning or at the very least, glanced at our archives, you’ll understand why. Their sensual and melodramatic beats are heavenly, beautiful, and simply amazing.

When you toss in The Hood Internet’s mashup with Ice Cube, CFCF’s instrumental takes on a whole new dynamic. This track is great for soothing yourself to sleep or taking your boy’s out for a spiritual drive by.

La Roux of 2010

Eleanor Jackson of La Roux has had a busy year in 2010. She managed to move her sound to mainstream audiences and in doing so, created a new definition of fame for herself. It’s a feat that more and more electro artists are trying to accomplish and one that even some artists are beginning to become successful at. The UK native laid down some lyrics Kanye West and Jay-Z earlier this year and continues to have her own music remixed the most by independent DJs and producers.

On December 2.2010, La Roux was nominated for a couple Grammy’s including Best Dance Recording (In For The Kill) and Best Electronic/Dance Album (La Roux). The achievement shines a rare spotlight on a genre that really didn’t get much attention until a couple years ago.

The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 13.2011 at the Los Angeles Staples Centre. Stay tuned for the results.

Goodie from a Rookie: No Love on Friday the 13th

I know, I know, this song has been kicking around for a while but its definitely still worth a post on AN. Eminem and Lil Wayne reunite and deliver, dare I say it, a much better double feature, this time mashed up with the classic What is Love by Haddaway. Check it out through the links below, believe this was released around June, but its still damn good today.

Goodie from a Rookie

Hey Everyone, I’m a long time 317electro, err, I mean Aerial Noise visitor, but a virgin blog poster so I’m popping my digital cherry getting this audible chocolate on the internet. This track comes from Pretty Lights, not yet well-known outside of the USA, but well worth a listen.

If you listen to music while you snowboard this track will stop your balls from constricting back inside your stomach as you ride towards that massive booter ahead.

Pretty Lights uses a monome to break down beats from big artists then mash them up with their own lyrics to produce a banger called Sunday School, check out the track right here:

Pretty Lights – Sunday School

P.S. I’m serious, it sucks that snowboarding ended before I heard this song

Round-Up #1: Muffin. YBC & DCUP. Softwar. Vindata.

Beautiful and sunny today! Here’s what hit my speakers the last little while:

This new track from 19 year-old Melbourne producer extraordinaire Muffin made my day. Real synth-odyssey landscape stuff. Simply stellar.

I always hold a special place for DCUP in my heart. The crew have recently graced my speakers with a ridiculous collaboration alongside Yolanda Be Cool.

Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP – We No Speak Americano

I love this track. It’s been everywhere so I’m sure you’ve heard it but I felt I needed to toss it in somewhere. Softwar uses laid-back disco samples with the fruits of TDCC vocals to create some pure disco melodies. Soothing and intricate this track becomes real easy to lose yourself too.

BONUS!

The mainstream dance party track of the week goes to an aggressive edit of Young Money’s Bedrock by the Vindata crew.

Jazzfeezy Feat. August [Words Won't Do]

Jazzfeezy’s first single Words Won’t Do off the debut album Unveiling The Rapture is getting tons of attention across Toronto.  If you’re in the GTA, call up Toronto’s Flow 93.5 at 416-935-1935 to request and listen to the track free on the radio.

Words Won’t Do was co-produced by boi-1da (who also produced Drake’s Best I Ever Had, and the single Forever for Lil Wayne, Kanye, and Eminem) and t-minus (produced Ludacris’s How Long Can You).  August wrote the lyrics and provided the vocals.  Once the pieces were separate but ‘together’ in the geographical sense, Jazzfeezy along with George Seara of phase one studios (who has worked with Madonna, 50 Cent, Ludacris, and Rihanna), and Chris Athens of Sterling Song (worked on Timbaland’s ShocK Value II and Daughtry’s new album) refined its sound and got it to where this track is today.

Needless to say, lots of effort was put into this and it shows.

[Editor's Note- Feb 03.10: Jazzfeezy Feat August - Words Won't Do just made Toronto's top 20 list on HipHopCanada.com. Vote for it here to get it into the top 10!]

Jazzfeezy [Producer Extraordinaire]

Jazzfeezy is a brand new Canadian producer who recently released his debut album Unveiling the Rapture last December.  The single Words Won’t Do featuring August is getting considerable attention from Toronto’s Flow 93.5.  [Listen Here]

Jazzfeezy is Jazz Singh, an established music producer who dabbled in a little bit of everything before finally settling on Hip Hop.  His family immigrated to Canada from India when he was young to a smaller city just north of Toronto.  Early on he was influenced by his mother’s South Asian musical heritage in addition to various film score’s before being infected by R&B, Hip Hop, and the Toronto-scene.

He recently received his diploma from the Harris Music Institute for the Arts in Production and Sound Engineering.  Since he has worked with many of GTA’s most prolific underground rap artists in August, Andreena Millz, Burna, Red Shortz, Phax, Emerson Brooks, Regular Robb, Drew James, Daxflow, Steve Major, Dean Gray, Black Swiss, Deshay Grey, Mr. Ranking, C. Jay, Bass Line, and Darnel Morgan.  All can be found gracing Unveiling the Rapture at some point throughout the album.

We were lucky enough to get a head start on the second single from the debut album, Can’t Get My Money featuring Burna.
