Modus Pony – “Modus Pony” LP

From the people who brought you Suede Ape, comes Modus Pony, the new instrumental solo project from Matt Ackerman. The self titled, debut album is a collection of experimental ideas, born during countless hours of bedroom daydreaming, presented and served to you as a traditional collection of typically succinct pop-songs. The album is a buffet of bite sized, experimental pieces that can be listened to casually, or examined and picked apart meticulously as an extended piece of audio-art. The album is currently available via bandcamp, with two free tracks available for download if you’re looking for something odd yet catchy, while cerebral in a “I-see-what-he-did-there” kind of way….

Space Ranger – Nightmoves REMIX EP

Space Ranger is releasing a new remix album this May based all around the spectacular track Nightmoves! Due to be released on Lovemonk Records, Space Ranger collaborative sound is second to none. The German trio all have a wide experience in various types of genres by previously working under a series of aliases. But now all three have settled down and focused on space-odyssey electric vibes. This new REMIXES EP will be a continuation of that process.

Another work in the process is their forthcoming debut album What About The Magnetic Fields? We caught a glimpse of it through the new single Plastic Romans (released this June 13th) and simply love it. Complete with remix treatment from Motor City Drum Ensemble, on fire after his sensational DJ Kicks contribution, new British sensation Bonar Bradberry, the amazing Rimshooters and even the one and only Marcus Worgull will lend a hand.

Bonar Bradberry throws some beef on the barbie and turns the slo-mo disco original into an ultra-funky dancefloor stormer, while the fabulous Rimshooters (a.k.a. Massimiliano Pagliara and Rotciv) pick up the pace and take things back to the eighties. Motorcity Drum Ensemble also shift up and undress the tune while they’re at it, leaving Captn K sounding even chillier. Groove Attack & Innervisions hero Marcus Worgull liked the MCDE remix so much, he decided to do his own edit of it.

Knowledge is power and Space Ranger is a powerful fresh force addressed to the discerning dancefloors everywhere.

MIGHTY MOUSE Mousecast 04 (Part Two) + Between The Pavement And The Stars

Part Two of Mighty Mouse’s Mixtape ‘Remixes Edits and Originals’ has just landed Aerials! And from first glance of their tracklisting then this May’s Mousecast 04 sets up to be one of their finest showcases yet. Initial listens tell me that there are some beautiful surprises to savour, so with a delightful euphoric opening that transcends into a sublime bit of audio wizardary.. a’la zero-pots-n-pans DJ mixing.. then the merry month of May 2011 is shaping up to be a cracker for M.M!

To make things even more exciting for Mighty Mouse, ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ is their first track to be released in 2011 from their new concept as a live band, and with a brilliant selection of remixes forthcoming from Cosmonauts, Edwin Van Cleef, Blamma! Blamma!, Tronik Youth and Mario Basanov, ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ is setting up to be a very well rounded release.

In the meantime, ‘Between The Pavement And The Stars’ provides us with an outlook into their new found style as a live band, and as the track in question floats off into a radio friendly grace with sprinkles of rolling drum riffs and aromas of studio-album Basement Jaxx sprinkles, the sharply squeezed keys and electronica stabs will become all too familiar after the third or fourth listen. Guaranteed.

Not to outdo the true art of surprise, there will also be even more tricks up Mighty Mouse’s sleeves for later on this year and an EP of theirs will drop vigorously in July 2011 too.

If you’re in the UK and you want to catch M.M. live, then they will be performing @ 93ft East in London on Friday 13th May 2011.

When the cat’s away the Mighty Mouse’s will sure indeed play…

+ don’t forget.. just like always, all Mousecast’s are available to download for free.

1. Sudha ‘Leche’ (Mighty Mouse Disco Revolution Remix)

MOUSECAST 04: Mighty Mouse MIXTAPE ‘Remixes, Edits and Originals’ (Part 2)

YellowLine Music – TransIterate LP

With a range of textural and moody sounds to beat, this unfound concept from out of Seattle in the United States is best consumed via headphones and a willingness to drift. Failing that precedence, a period of time within a day where you can let this coast on by without any high-octane troubles or overly-stupidly high BPM beats.

Strikingly crafted with a screenplay quality to it, “TransIterate” gradually begins to put all of your plights away whilst equally putting its concept up there amongst the elite and up n’ coming best.

Brian Ackley brings his YellowLine Music concept to fruition in 2011, and gives Aerial Noise and all of our readers an insight into his own personal brand of ambient and electronic-rock. Thirst quenching in every last drop, this 10 track debut album releases odes and nods to his favourite heroes in Future Sound Of London, Kinski and Curve. Here are a few YellowLine Music samples to savour…

This is picturesque.

Fenech Soler – Stone Bridge

Good ol’ Fenech Soler is back at it again. This time with a disgustingly good classic and brilliant track entitled Stone Bridge. The guys sent it over as their newest freebie and I couldn’t be happier. Wow, what a track.

MINNESOTA x2!

Double the sentiment, double your pleasure, double your fun!

With an aim to make bass heavy dubstep/glitch-hop music that’ll get you dancing (and is not the same old, 3 note transformer-step..), USCS’s History major Christian Bauhofer aka Minnesota takes a bite out of the glorious peaches of Santa Cruz, California and crafts a dual wonderment of Stella Artois refined beverages, with a side order of other miniatures and lagers just incase you don’t like those big n’ chunky Artois’s that are on offer here …

With that said, Minnesota’s re-take of SVD’s XX Booty Mix of ‘Intro,’ originally done by The XX, perfectly enhances Sander Van Doorn’s own inspiration and gives The XX even more creative turns on the dancefloor for future months of longevity. ‘Juicy’ retains that same element also and smashes home The Notorious B.I.G.’s unique skills for all underground and less discerning dancefloors worldwide.

We tip our hats to you Sir!

SANDER VAN DOORN – XX Booty (Minnesota Remix)

BIGGIE SMALLS – Juicy (Minnesota Remix)

EVERETT JAMES – Peace [735 Music]

Everett James from 735 Music sends us through a very abstract sounding analogue track which immediately wouldn’t trouble the high end speakers of an old skool Massive Attack party. Featuring the slight delicate whispers of an MC getting warmed up for his next freestyle, ‘Peace’ dips and bobs its head in a dream like state and makes an even more powerful delivery with its constant poignant drums and its fantasy-inspired phasers.

Peace” as it is here, is another example of how splendid a track can sound like without too many vocal parts added to it.

EVERETT JAMES – Peace

TALKFINE – Glasses

A simple, but subtle melody bounces its way across the Aerialnoise Inbox and by-jove it stands adrift like an array of brightly coloured Springtime flowers on a hot Saturday morning.

So Bad’ was TalkFine’s loud n’ proud previous, however its ‘Glasses’ which go down a soulful and mellow route, but not without adding an electrified unique kick to put it onto a path of a few-things-a’TalkFine different.

TALKFINE – Glasses

The man known as SCHILLER.

Good things come to those who wait, but in some cases, wonderful things happen when you least expect them to. Inspired by the actual birth name of one of Germany’s most famous poets in Friedrich Schiller, the initial production partnership of Mirko von Schlieffen and Christopher von Deylen gave birth to some timeless and most memorable dance floor wonders in the shape of ‘Das Glockenspiel’ throughout 1998 to 2000, and ‘Ruhe’ between 1999 and 2000.

Wonderful remixes from those two tracks in question in no doubt helped DJ Tiësto, Humate, Tom Middleton, Trisco and Sumsonic onto Ministry of Sound’s Data Records path of production-greatness and remix-folklore. But alongside the numerous-own Schiller projects and fertile promotion that these two men worked through, this duo always found time to maintain the attention of Zeitgeist/Island Records who in turn released their debut LP entitled “Zeitgiest.”

The “Weltreise” (Voyage) LP soon followed in 2001 and then the “Leben” (Life) LP in 2003. Somewhere between then, Christopher and Mirko experienced the age old hurdle of creative & artistic differences. And despite being really unfortunate to iron out those divergences naturally, Mirko decided to depart and Christopher picked up the ball to continue in the world we now as Schiller come today.

**************************************************************

**************************************************************

Without alienating music fans in the mother-language in which Schiller’s LP’s have been published, the continuation of releasing the album’s title’s and track names in German and then into English, remains a constant revealing flow. Throughout the whole of the Noughties, in conjunction with Christopher’s own stadium-like-inner-drive, the Echo & OPUS music awards closely preceded and his collaborations with all several, outstanding female artists soon following in suite.

Thirteen studio-based and concept-branded albums have followed since 2003 (with two more following in 2010 & 2011). But before then, we land on gently towards the 14th Schiller album (or 6th depending on who you talk to), which exuberates monumental, perfect ambience, of the very same entitled name.

The “Breathless” LP has an ongoing heartiness to it which makes the worldly feelings of sluggishness and exhaustion absolutely redundant. After spending a month on the oceanographic research ship known as the Polarstern in Germany, a nineteen track voyage of tender and infinite-whisked melodies were inspired onto the hills of the Schiller fortress once again. The pearls of aural wisdom in which these gates were opened to were among the Princesses and Prince’s known as Lenka, Nadia Ali, Midge Ure (lead man of Ultravox), Mia Bergstrom, Anggun and many more to add to favour.

Within their strength also, they helped glide, traverse and energise “Breathless” into a universe of unmitigated tranquilly and abundant, idyllic peacefulness. Together with “Breathless” (also known as Atemlos) featuring a quintessential number in the form of the song called ‘Try,’ the United States version of this album will be accompanied with the “Sehnsucht” (Desire) LP which originally came out in 2008.

**************************************************************

**************************************************************

Re-releasing the dazzling reminder of the single called ‘Breathe’ with vocalist September (and further exhibits from Despina Vandi, Kim Sanders, Xavier Naidoo and Jette Von Roth), “Desire” in its equal self retains a crisp bodied finish with an outlook on all things ambient and unanimously spirited.

The roads in which have been made and laid down for Schiller to continue on have not been sought after without a reflection to the past and an identical eye on the future, so with the enthused knowledge of Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Tangerine Dream to contemplate over, Mike Oldfield fans alike are in no doubt to be content and humbled by that mystical and heart penetrating sound that moves and captures us all from Christopher “Schiller.”

**************************************************************

Bookmarking the calendar for his epic nineteen date tour in December later on this year, will indeed hypnotise and spell bound all sorts of fraternities from chill out to trance to ambient to Balearic and back again. So in the words of a true composer, musician and producer.. “My Name Is Christopher Von Deylen… and I am Schiller.”

Long may his vision live on.
