PENGUIN PRISON – Fair Warning (Muffin Remix)

If it smells nice and it looks good, no.. it is not a lovely woman who has just come out from the shower.. it is the aroma of a freshly baked muffin; from Muffin.. aroma-tising things up from sundrenched Melbourne, Australia.

Inspiration taught by Penguin Prison : plus two commendable tracks and one heck of a lush-licked DJ Mix. Tissues @ the ready Aerials, as this Muffin Mix may make you cry …

PARTY IS @ SEVEN

Okay Class, it’s time to take the daily register …

Deletah? – Yes Sir..

Tim Ireland? – Yes Sir..

GWIL? – Present..

FINAL DJs? – They’re not in yet Sir.. Their Mam said that they wet the bed this morning and have to stay back until its fully washed & cleaned …

REX THE TRI∆NGLE? – He’s skiving Sir.. he said to me this morning that he thinks school is boring and that you’re proper Gay …

Well now that the so called register is taken care of and those final three cheeky chappies are locked up in detention.. we shake off the fictional cap for a tick and remind ourselves about why the line of up talent from Milwaukee, Hollywood, Vancouver – Canada (BIG cheer goes up in back..), Stuttgart & Chicago are all the Best In The World in what they do.

Disco to House; to Prog to Chill. To those French lil’ touches – and back again. It’s all summed up deliciously. Let’s get the “Red” + Cold Ones out together …

# The Party is @ Seven (Wink!)

THE 14TH MINUTE – Disco Record (Kreap’s Magic Disco Boogie Mix)

Bad ass. Totally bad ass. The 14th Minute and their “Melbourne brother-from-a-different-Mother” as KREAP - helps them out on this new tale of baked potato funk and VIZ-humour housed-up electro.

Let’s hope that we don’t get to witness anymore naughty goings on in random elevators – eh Mister KREAP?

Ha Ha …

DJ MIX HEAVEN

Beginning with newcomer ENJOi (from Cadiz, Spain) taking care of some recent and own personal favourite elements of disco & house – through to Liverpool’s Yousef reminding us all about why the art of “warming up” in clubland is a worthy process of being honourable, Yousef takes us on a journey through a sometimes overlooked highlight to harness the dexterity of sounds before the main DJ set of an evening, and concludes why it is absolutely centre point in warming a club night to build up the energy, set the pace.. and to create a vibrant atmosphere for the latter DJs that are scheduled to play after them.

Another Spaniard in Towards Green beautifully whips up a meal in ambience & implementation through UK’s radio station XFM and Ben Watt’s promotional label hands in Buzzin Fly - to finally bring to a finish a German benchmark of slow motion & mid tempo house music, with acid house soul & traditional atmospheric funk from Stuttgart’s CLOCHARD.

Wanna go out? I’m coming with you …

Yousef’s opening DJ set – Live @ Carl Cox Revolution at Electric Brixton on 7 April 2012. Mixed live on three Pioneer CDJ 2000’s and one Pioneer DJM 2000 Mixer.

SYKUR – “Curling”

Consisting of Icelanders Agnes, Halldór, Stefán and Kristján, Sykur (translation: Sugar) began in 2009 and quickly established a reputation for packing out parties with girls and boys looking for good times.I fell in love with their track “Curling”, and the video made me love it even more due to it 90′s imagery. The band released their first album, Frábært eða Frábært in October 2009 to much acclaim and commercial success, with the single “Viltu Dick?” from this album becoming one of the biggest radio hits in Iceland in 2009. The guys already play a pivotal role in the Reykjavik scene and have collaborated with the hottest local talent, as well as shared stages with international acts such as Mt. Eden, Peaches, Familjen, Casiokids, Juvelen, Kleerup and Junior Boys, so clearly they move in the right circles, this being further demonstrated by their use of vivid artwork by the inspired, up and coming Icelandic designer Siggi Odds…

Wool – Pillows

Wool’s “Pillows” from his Plant Music EP “The Good In You” out now.

Wool, or DJ Wool as he was known when he first released on Plant Music back in the 90′s (on Plant’s first ever release), is a phenomenal DJ and producer. He is one half of The Glass and has been releasing solo material and remixes on many different labels including Top Billin’, Discobelle and his own We Collect Enemies imprint. His new EP “The Good In You” is a beautiful blend of slow house and melodic techno featuring his lovely wife, Lindsey, on classical piano.

The title song sits perfectly with the new wave of slowed down dance music favored by DJs from Berlin to San Francisco, two towns he now calls home. The EP also features two other slow tracks also produced on a variety of modular and analog synths in his Northern Cali studio. Remixes come courtesy of NY to LA transplant DJ Sabo who keeps the downtempo direction, Plant Music’s Heavyfeet who jack it up with their UK garage and house sound and LA’s Pools (aka Mike B. and Morse Code) who take the b-side “Rehabilitate It” in a lo-fi 90′s direction.

FARE SOLDI – TU Night (Mixes) + STEREOCOOL (Fare Soldi “Little Pizz” Rmx)

Released on Riotmaker Records and Hello Shitty Records on the 27 April 2012 respectively, ‘TU Night’ and Fare Soldis’ remix of Stereocool is a pure, glad-handed example of 200% gorgeous electronic dance music.

Pleasurable & carefree to have its big paw print across the glassier end of disco / house music beads – this depiction of Italian gorgeousness sets up Fare Soldi for their forthcoming “Fare Soldi Do America IV Tour,” the Mordisco Festival and the Hultsfreds Festival for all super-doopa comic book heroes.

KING CURTIS – Changes

Daniel Robinson – “The Last Night”

Coming to your ears from Toronto via Buffalo, NY, electro-pop artist Daniel Robinson‘s debut EP, North, is all about moving onward and upward in the world. Featuring tracks the “Heroes in the Sky” and “History Maker”, North has a “heart-on-your-sleeve, deep-space electro-pop” sound that is whimsical and light-hearted. The lyrics give you a feeling of optimism and anticipation, and themes of love, friendship and embracing an unknown future are prevalent throughout the EP.

Inspiration for his music often comes from outside sources, such as pop art, fashion, books and video games. A fan of anything that augments reality, Robinson also dabbles in graphic design, and has created all of the artwork for his music.

Currently working as a Starbucks barista (and loving it!), Robinson hopes that North will turn his passion for music into a profession. In the meantime, he is getting involved with charities that promote equality, such as Lady GaGa’s Born This Way foundation’s Buffalo chapter and The Human Rights Campaign. Released in December 2011, North is available now for download on Bandcamp.com. For more information on Daniel Robinson, visit his website
