Project 46′s “Jigsaw” is an epic trance track that samples Jigsaw from the popular film Saw. The electronic pieces in it are flawless. They are working on a lot of big label releases as of recent but wanted to continue to give away a bunch of free stuff for their listeners on their soundcloud, hype machine and fan pages! I just finished watching the movie Drive (2011), directed by Nicholas Refn. Holy shit is it ever fantastic! Honest to god the best movie I have seen in years. The film pins its headlights on the dark implications of unchecked obsession and good intentions gone haywire. That dangerous duality – humanity on the razor’s edge of animal brutality – is played to unnerving perfection by Ryan Gosling. With a low budget and the odd Hollywood marquee, the film was never expected to make the impact it did.
And well; the soundtrack is even more impressive. With a lineup like Kavinsky, College, Electric Youth and more, it slides right into our alley. Go out and watch it.

We recently introduced you to self-taught, guitar prodigy Alex Fedorov, and his new track “Last Forever”. Currently unsigned, Fedorov continues to work out of Bedrock Studios in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, and lately there’s been a steady stream of piercing guitar roars emanating from Fedorov’s cell. The man’s been toiling away on the new album arriving sometime this year, and due to be titled “Ahead of Time”. Based in Nashville TN, Ugly Kids Club is the music collaboration of Steve Wilson (producer, songwriter, guitarist) and Aliegh Shields (vocalist, lyricist, guitarist). The pair formed in early 2011 when they discovered their shared love for minimalistic rock duos such as Sleigh Bells, Crystal Castles, and The Kills.
Steve is a Grammy Nominated rock producer and songwriter by day working with bands such as The Juliana Theory and Jonezetta. Aliegh is a bartender who grew up on stage and in her bedroom teaching herself guitar. Their contrasting musical backgrounds helped form their unique sound of crunchy beats, fuzzy guitars, and undertones of synth-pop. A heavy presence on my best of 2011 list, The Sanfernando Sound sends his new year’s wishes by messing with a track from the hot NYC artist Matthew Duffy. The Sanfernando Sound gets his hands dirty with “Homosapien”, originally released in 1981 by Pete Shelley, leader of punk band “Buzzcocks” and a personal hero for JSP as he also hails from the music rich city of Manchester. The track is great, but if I’m honest my mouth is salivating at the thought of The Sanfernando Sound’s next remix project where he utilizes a track from local favorites, The New Division. I’ve been down with OHYEAH since he got down with HOMEBOI and the duo put together The SainTropez / CôteD’Azur EP. Amongst a flurry of holiday well-wishing, it was great to hear from OHYEAH recently, and he passed along word of the Benice Veach EP, and also did an excellent job of articulating the three song EP’s sunny disposition, in a warmly worded email:

I don’t know what the weather is like where you are, but i can tell you that it’s pretty rainy and not Christmas-like at all in Germany. We (My Heart Your Heart, Kings Of The Universe and I) thought it would be a great idea to bring some sunshine into your life by introducing you to MHYH’s “Benice Veach” EP. This whole thing comes along with 3 tracks which could not be more different from each other. The original combines guitars with tropical drums, while “Kings Of The Universe” from Sweden did a 90s influenced & 909 addicted garage remix and le me joins them with some funky synthesized boogie. Just because MHYH is a pretty nice guy and christmas is all about love and giving, he decided to give away the whole EP for free.
By far, my favorite greeting from this last season, and a well needed dose of sunshine from our buddy OHYEAH…

NU.F.O. just recorded a monster vocal remix of Skrillex’s Cat Rats and think it’s the perfect time to release it- 1 day before the release of their new E.P. Following the release of their debut album, they started working on a mixtape and this track is the 2nd release from it. The first is a vocal remix of Deadmau5′ Strobe, which can also be found below. These guys are putting a new spin on some eclectic and heavy electro and house beats.
