Kaskade – Room For Happiness (feat. Skylar Grey)

The wait for UK fans is over, as US dance titan Kaskade finally unleashes his hotly anticipated album ‘Fire & Ice’ exclusively on iTunes through Ultra Records. In addition to this, single #3 from the long-player, “Room For Happiness” also sees the light of day! Featuring standout remixes from Gregori Klosman, Pixl, Pixel Cheese, Feenixpawl and Mysto & Pizzi – it’s a package worthwhile for all!

‘Fire & Ice’ which has already docked at the top end of the overall American iTunes charts features luminary talents such as Rebecca & Fiona, Grammy-nominated Skrillex, Skylar Grey and Late Night Alumni.

Yet the true genius of Kaskade’s latest extended offering lies not solely in its top-notch collaborations; it’s also in the divide Kaskade determines between Disc 1 (Fire) and Disc 2 (Ice). Fire reveals ten scorching club edits soaked to the bone with the renowned production power that has seen Ryan Raddon crowned ‘America’s Number 1 DJ’ by both Pioneer and DJ Times and in doing so won him an unparalleled army of devoted fans across the length and breadth of America. In stark contrast, Ice reveals the same ten cuts but stripped back and laid refreshingly bare, the listener is subtly yet skilfully taken on a completely different tangent; a brand new journey through Kaskade’s masterful stereophonic sound.

From the hit singles “Eyes” and “Turn It Down” right through to underground monsters like “Lick It”, ‘Fire & Ice’ has something for everyone. Whether your passion is house, electro, dubstep or ambient, each track and its separate counterpart is sure to evoke response – from the most die-hard fans to the most casual.

With a plethora of European appearances already confirmed, including the O2 Wireless Festival in London with Rihanna, his residency at the world-famous Marquee in Las Vegas and top-secret festival plans soon to be revealed to a waiting world, things are only set to get bigger for Kaskade whose sole intention for 2012 is to spread his undeniably unique sound far and wide.

Electric Youth + Pelifics

Brilliantine Records is proud to present the latest offering from Oslo producer Pelifics (alias of Eirik Seu Stokkmo) as an EP in two potent acts.

Expanding on his already notorious style, Lifetime Volume 1 provides us with his markedly fresh combination of disco and house, infused with a strong homage to 1980’s pop and funk. The result is a series of compositions that leave the listener happily oscillating between sounds of youthful nostalgia and the future sound of disco.

The first track of the EP is the ethereal “Wish It Could Last”, a collaboration with 2011 Drive Soundtrack darlings Electric Youth. With a marked Pet Shop Boys vibe, tracks are injected with strange new life in a juxtaposition between indie dance beats and Bronwyn’s whimsical vocals.

Can’t Promise Anything with Human Life veers Volume 1 into different (yet strangely familiar) territory, and makes you hope with all your might that someone will choreograph a dance routine to accompany it. Again we’re presented with patchwork collection of sounds from a bygone and much romanticized era, but with fierce funk riffs that bite back.

Magic takes us on another disco-tainted journey that merges flawlessly with the best elements of the second age of golden pop. In Pelifics own words, “The track started off as a homage to one of my all time favourite tracks “Nothing Looks the Same in the Light” from Wham!’s album Fantastic.”

Discover for yourself – happy listening!

TWINSY

We have a rare treat today in Melbourne’s Twinsy- the new B-list feelgood supergroup featuring Guy Chappell (Yacht Club DJs), Michael Belsar (Hunting Grounds) and Ajax (Under Your Sink / Bang Gang).

They’re a likely combination of misguided talent and spent youth, taking off where Gorillaz and Malcom M’claren left off!

Be a Gee – ESP (Final DJs Higher and Higher Rework)

Thomas and Basti are 31 years old. They have known each other since they were wee little children. At the young age of 15, they began djing together creating the essence of what we know today as The Final DJs.

In 2010 they started producing their own music. Since then I have been very thankful. Their newest track  is a rework that screams italo disco with a hot and heavy retro vibe. As a bonus we also have a brand new original called “Neon”. Both are available for free download, we just ask that you show them some love on Soundcloud.

Jupiter Ace – Wheel of Life [PREVIEW]

On February 14th, Irish house music supremo, Jupiter Ace, unleashed his brand new label “Big Vision”, a joint venture with seminal house label, Strictly Rhythm, aiming to inject new blood into the electronic music scene.  Big Vision has a simple mission: to deliver dance floor bombs of epic proportions, and with its first release ‘Wheel Of Life’, produced by Jupiter Ace himself, this is a label kick-starting as it means to go on.

‘Wheel Of Life’ is proof that Jupiter Ace knows exactly what the biggest dancefloors out there want to hear right now. This huge track features a massive synth riff, with a distinctive sound that sets Jupiter Ace apart from the pack and which will stay with you long after your night has ended. As you would expect, the production is flawless, as Big Vision sets out its stall with this pumping, peak-time house production. As its title suggests, this track takes the listener on a journey, with a giant melodic hook you can lose yourself in, and huge drops that will shake any dancefloor to its foundations. There is no doubt this track will be the biggest tune on dancefloors everywhere.

Dubbed “Ireland’s answer to Eric Prydz” by Mixmag, Jupiter Ace has proved himself time after time with his big room, hook-laden productions. His career was launched by the massive club hit “1000 Years” in 2005, catapulting him to No 1 in the Buzz and Cool Cuts charts and onto dancefloors around the world. Recent times have seen Jupiter Ace, a.k.a Gregory Ferguson, complete high profile remixes for the likes of Sony, Ministry of Sound and Universal Music, as well as producing international No 1, platinum-selling hit, “Dirty Talk” for Wynter Gordon (Atlantic Records USA).

Not only will Big Vision will be the central outlet for new Jupiter Ace productions it will also feature tracks from other talented artists and producers, as selected by the man himself. Expect nothing but the best melodic, big room tunes with super fresh production.

Listening to Jupiter Ace is like being blasted into another musical galaxy and this highly talented producer is all set to share his Big Vision with the world.

Moon Boots – Aretha [Zimmer Remix]

Zimmer’s music brings about a feel good, body-warming, enthusiastic wave that goes straight to the heart – staying until the end of the night. Growing up between France and California, this young producer has found a smooth combination of both worlds: west coast carefree attitude, with a twist of Parisian chic.

Blending 70s Disco, 80s Funk and 90s House, his influences range from George Benson to Crystal Waters, with instant contemporary producers comparisons to Aeroplane, Moullinex and Azari & III.

When not producing, he goes back to his DJ routes and makes people move in low-ceiling clubs and fancy parties, just recently making his USA debut at Los Angeles renowned Cinespace. Making sure the crowd always has a good time, he cultivates the art of mixing à la Larry Levan, playing from 100 to 125 bpm.

Check out these fresh vibes and hit em up on soundcloud.

Bloc Party – Flux (Alexx Foxx Remix)

Alex Foxx just tossed us a remix to his favourite Bloc Party track “Flux”. It’s fantastic and holds on to a real dark, transparent vibe. Completely bringing me back to the pure Bloc Party days of ’09. I haven’t done a bonus track in ages but at the bottom you can check out my own absolute favourite- Phones’ disco edit to the track “Banquet”.

Fare Soldi – Disco Durello

Fare Soldi (meaning “making money” in Italian) was born in 1999 when two Italian producers named Santana Pasta and Luka Carnifull started melting different musical influences including disco, house, hip hop and indie rock. The result was what they call “Frico Disco”. The first Fare Soldi album was released in Italy on Riotmaker Records in 2002. A few years later, after delivering their unique sound and very tongue-in-cheek DJ sets throughout Italy the duo released the critically acclaimed “One nation under a grande cassa” on Riotmaker Records. At that point Riotmaker Records had also become an imprint on Warner Music. More releases including the “Mago Ninja Robot” Ep and their third album entitled “Sappiamo dove abiti” (Whe know where you live)were soon to follow.
Fast forward to 2010 – with a number of releases under their belt including the most recent: “Houstria Ep” and VIGORILLA, and strong support from MTV (Italy/EU) and a slew of big name artists like Erol Alkan, Aeroplane, Metro Area and Bloody Beetroots showing support, the golden duo (they perform in signature gold jackets) are poised for world domination.

Currently, Fare Soldi’s remix of “Babylon” for Congorock and their remix of Duck Sauce’sBarbra Streisand “are causing an international sensation at clubs and festivals from California to Ibiza. Their new ep is out now: CASOTTO, while remixes and a new tracks are also in the works for next year.

Fare Soldi has performed alongside James Murphy, Calvin Harris, Mr. Oizo, Sebastian, Kavinsky and Crookers. The list continues to grow, so lookout for Fare Soldi they’ll soon be coming to a club, festival or Italian restaurant near you!

Drive (2011) Soundtrack

I just finished watching the movie Drive (2011), directed by Nicholas Refn. Holy shit is it ever fantastic! Honest to god the best movie I have seen in years. The film pins its headlights on the dark implications of unchecked obsession and good intentions gone haywire. That dangerous duality – humanity on the razor’s edge of animal brutality – is played to unnerving perfection by Ryan Gosling. With a low budget and the odd Hollywood marquee, the film was never expected to make the impact it did.

And well; the soundtrack is even more impressive. With a lineup like Kavinsky, College, Electric Youth and more, it slides right into our alley. Go out and watch it.
