Lil Jon Vs Nicky Romero – Mutate Out Of Space [MAKJ Bootleg]

MacKenzie Johnson, better known as DJ MAKJ, uncovered a passion for mixing and DJ’ing at only 15 years of age. After receiving the opportunity to live overseas in China, the teenager grabbed hold of his first set of Technics 1200 Turntables.

As he experimented with the new equipment, Johnson also took advantage of his foreign exposure and critically studied the technical nuances and styles set before him in the most popular clubs. No longer would DJ’ing be a new-found passion, but a thriving career path awaiting his discovery.

As a 17-year-old Johnson made his way back to the United States, he returned with a unique outlook and greater ambition than ever before. The insight Johnson acquired abroad aided him in gaining incredible local momentum; Johnson found himself being repeatedly invited to DJ countless local University and Community College events and concerts. Johnson’s exposed creativity and diversity as an artist deservingly awarded him with much critical acclaim and positive reception.

Johnson has extended his talent to notable venues in the greater California area at San Francisco’s Infusion Lounge and The Ambassador, Sacramento’s Dream Ultra Lounge and The Park in Sacramento, San Luis Obispo’s Mothers Tavern and Native Lounge, and Arizona’s Cream Stereo Lounge. Internationally, he has DJed in Macau, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Johnson was also the World Extreme Cagefighting “WEC” MMA West Coast DJ, Tachi Palace & Casino MMA DJ, NOS “Hot Import Nights” 2009 Season DJ, Coca-Cola Bay Area DJ for all corporate events, 2009 Love Fest Float DJ, and played at Fresh Entertainment 2010 fresh anniversary Rave in LA.

Johnson has since ventured into broader professional territory. He has been welcomed into the New York-based Crooklyn Clan as a featured artist; consistently producing immensely popular tracks/remixes among fellow DJs. Renowned artists such as Tiesto, Hardwell, Laidback Luke, DJ Chuckie, Steve Aoki, DJ R3hab, Wolfgang Gartner, just to name a few have all supported DJMAKJ’s tracks since his competitive debut in the realm of professional DJing and Production.

Most recently, MAKJ has joined Goom Radio, an outstanding achievement on its own. The online radio station specializes in customized radio for its listeners using the highest caliber of sound technology. DJMAKJ is currently the freshest DJ featured on the popular “In The Club” station on Goom. DJMAKJ is the second DJ on the West Coast to represent Goom Radio. His 60 min mixshows will be broadcasted every Saturday on 92.3 NY & Goom Radio’s online station.

At only 20 years of age, Mackenzie Johnson has achieved an almost unfathomable amount of success. His dedication to his craft and ambition to surpass any and all competitors will further propel DJMAKJ higher than he ever imagined.

SAUR – SocaLoca! (Original Mix)

The new track from SAUR is”SocaLoca!”,  and at 140 BPM it yanks Philly based Igor Makhlin right out of his comfort zone. His girlfriend’s love of Soca music exposed SAUR to something that he found strikingly similar to “sped up Moombahton”. Whatever is sounds like, SAUR scribbled his name all over it, with the infusion of urgency we’ve come to expect from Mr. Makhlin…

Tuskegee Cadet & Blazin – “Keep It 100 Mixtape”

The Los Angeles based producer Blazin put hip-hop drums against prismatic synths on his last beat tape, “Night Career”, and it’s two parts “Raw Like a Circular Saw” and “Relics of Psychedelics”.  Blazin has hooked up with his cohort (whose name I find to be genius) TuskegeeCadet on his latest mixtape, “Keep It 100”, a title that connotes the rhythmic artisanship you can expect from the pairing. All beats were handcrafted by Blazin and TuskegeeCadet, with Blazin handling mixing duties. TuskegeeCadet also helped out with some mind expanding visuals in the form of a promo vid…

Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks (SAUR Bootleg)

The new remix from SAUR, is his rendition of Foster The People’s “Pumped Up Kicks”. Granted, there are a million “Pumped Up Kicks” remixes floating around, but how many of those are dripping with SAUR’s dirty-dutch demeanor? Not many, so try something new and enjoy an excellent freebie from Holland, Pennsylvania’s SAUR

Retrotation – “I Dream of Dragons (Dubstep Original)”

We’re always happy to hear from, Retrotation, AKA Matt Olick, especially when he captivates and mystifies with tales of thrash bands backdropped by a 20 foot screen, with an SNES hooked up…he also had some new music to share as he continues to sweep away the ashes from a recent power supply fire. He’s currently working with MegaClown, a collaboration that intrigues us, but he wanted to pass along a pair of fresh tracks in the mean time. Retrotation makes melodic, vivid dubstep that invites the curiosities of dub newbies, and frankly his stuff is a great jump off point if you’re new to the genre, as his work is versatile enough to satisfy a great many tastes…

Porter Robinson + Knife Party

Knife Party indulge us by tossing us a hard and irreplaceable take on Porter Robinson’s Unison- a single that can be found off the impressive American DJ’s debut album Spitfire. As for Knife Party, Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen won’t stop releasing absolute masterpieces.  Check this one out. It’s stellar.

Cromie + JRapp – “How I Know”

Cromie, AKA Nik Hlady, dabbled in production as early as high school, and he eventually graduated and left for college, where he hosted his own weekly DJ party. He was excited to touch bass (pun, transcendent) and tell us about his forthcoming release on Boe Digits, which is the digital sub-label of London-based Boe Recordings. Cromie, with some help from JRapp, has debuted his new track “How I Know” on Boe Digits, and it’s laced with a “broken dubby beats and wild grime synths”.

KNIFE PARTY

A little bit of heavy artillery here with some electric dub courtesy of Knife Party. KP are a sideproject from Pendulum, housing two of their original bandmembers. They are a project that have many going mental over their hard, eclectic, and domineering style of electro-dub beats. Internet Friends shook me hard. Once I caught on it wasn’t long before the remainder of their interesting style of mixes graced my speakers. They are a rising force to be reckoned with and as long as dub continues to become the forefront of the club scene across North America, they will continue to see a huge amount of success. Check out these historic tracks below and be sure to spot em on their next European tour.

Upcoming tour dates so far:

Fri 4th Nov 2011The Warehouse Project – Store Street, Manchester, UK

RUSKO

Rusko has redefined all that is dubstep. Once graduated from Leeds College of Music with a degree in Music Performance, Rusko became heavily immersed in the world of Dubstep through the Leeds based event “Sub Dub” and the closely connected Northern counterpart of Digital Mystikz “DMZ” events, which were both held at the West Indian Centre. Rusko moved to London to work with the record labels Sub Soldiers and Stingray Records and connect with now no longer associated act Caspa. Together the two honed a new sound that was unlike any other.

Rusko made his production debut in 2006 on Dub Police with the song SNES Dub.By 2007 he released Babylon, Vol. 1 with Sub Soldiers. Steering away from the darker side of Dubstep, Rusko brought an upbeat sound to the scene that appealed to many outside the community. Rusko’s extremely successful hit Cockney Thug has appeared on various DJ sets and mixes including Pete Tong, Switch, M.I.A. and Santigold. His music has been remixed by artists Buraka Som Sistema as well as Drop the Lime, Scratch Perverts, Sub Focus and fellow act Caspa. Rusko also did his own productions and remixes of artists like Adele and A-Trak featuring Kid Sister.

Rusko worked with M.I.A. on her third album release Maya. Rusko’s newest album release is titled OMG and was released on Mad Decent Records on 3 May 2010 in the United Kingdom and 4 May 2010 in the United States.

He is also said to have worked on tracks with Rihanna and T.I. and has produced optional material for Britney Spears’ upcoming album. On November 8, 2010 Rusko’s house and production studio in Silverlake caught on fire. The fire started when Belinda’s Porsche caught fire in his carport. He managed to save the hard drives from the studio computers.

As a thank you for Christopher Mercer’s notorious work in the studio, we have a selection of hard pressed historic beats from the English producer. Check out the past below.

Retrotation – “Creep” (Retrotation Dubstep Remix) / “Videogames and Orchestras ‘n dubstep stuff”

A dear friend of ours, and someone we’re always happy to hear from, Retrotation, AKA Matt Olick, continues to surprise and impress with his range, despite having his equipment wiped out by a tiny inferno. My apologies for sitting on a couple of gems he sent us a while back, including a triumphant return to making excellent video game inspired tracks like his latest, Videogames and Orchestras ‘n dubstep stuff. The track is one hell of a turbulent journey through some of Retrotation’s most vivid landscapes to date. He was also nice enough to pass along a truly unique Radiohead remix he’s had under-wraps for a minute, and he’s made it available as a free download below. There’s not a power supply fire hot enough to keep Retrotation down, and now that the smoke has cleared, we can expect him to hunker down and continue to spit out inspired music, and apparently he’s been dreaming of dragons, so check back for some fresh Retrotation

Danzel vs. Axwell vs. Gregori Klosman – Put Dem Girls up in the Air (phantim Mashup)

We introduced you to Frankfurt based phantim with his inventive remix of “Push it” by Jessie and the Toy Boys, and we gushed over the “wavy synthetics thrust against oscillating house”. Big things are coming for phantim, and he’s assured us that new originals are coming soon, but for now, enjoy the mashup…
