Alex Fedorov – “Last Forever”

A refreshing advancement of the established post-rock premise, self-taught guitar prodigy Alex Fedorov’s nuanced, polished sound offers an alluring modernity, while still retaining a depth and complexity reminiscent of The Album Leaf or Mogwai. Fedorov seamlessly weaves elements of Heavy Metal, Ambient, Trance, and Classical to craft a signature sound that transcends genre lines, and appeals to a vast array of tastes.  Currently unsigned, Fedorov continues to work out of Bedrock Studios in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, and his already extensive library of material can be further explored at http://www.reverbnation.com/alexfedorov

PNAU‘s single “Unite Us” is released sometime in February next year (at least in the UK), but that doesnt mean we can’t get a small taste of one of the remixes on the single. This one from Kris Menace is pretty cool… can’t wait for the release!

Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks (SAUR Bootleg)

The new remix from SAUR, is his rendition of Foster The People’s “Pumped Up Kicks”. Granted, there are a million “Pumped Up Kicks” remixes floating around, but how many of those are dripping with SAUR’s dirty-dutch demeanor? Not many, so try something new and enjoy an excellent freebie from Holland, Pennsylvania’s SAUR

Modus Pony – “Modus Pony” LP

From the people who brought you Suede Ape, comes Modus Pony, the new instrumental solo project from Matt Ackerman. The self titled, debut album is a collection of experimental ideas, born during countless hours of bedroom daydreaming, presented and served to you as a traditional collection of typically succinct pop-songs. The album is a buffet of bite sized, experimental pieces that can be listened to casually, or examined and picked apart meticulously as an extended piece of audio-art. The album is currently available via bandcamp, with two free tracks available for download if you’re looking for something odd yet catchy, while cerebral in a “I-see-what-he-did-there” kind of way….

This Is Head – De Trop [Johanna Knutsson Remix]

It’s Saturday night and you go to bed at 11 pm. You set your alarm clock for 5 am in the morning. You wake up, have a couple beers for breakfast, and then you’re ready for the floor. You arrive at Bergain, Panorama bar, Berlin at 6 am.  Most likely you show up to find Johanna Knutsson at the DJ booth. Johanna is the latest star on the more mellow techno scene within Berlin- the scene that peaks at 7 am when the party starts over again.

This is the latest single from This Is Head, now in one exclusive remix. We’re proud to present De Trop (Johanna Knutsson Cosmic Support Remix).

PORTISHEAD – Nylon Smile (War Games Remix)

We have an honourable amount to thank Angel Alanis, Lady Foursquare, Local Hero, Acid Girls, Monologic and Harvard Bass for, as these are the tigers and cougars who make up the Noise Floor, Chicago based Crew. The War Games remix of ‘Nylon Smile,’ continues on from where we left “Portishead’s Third reimagined..” and fully stadium packs its butterfly-excitement, insights ravenous hand-claps-in-sync moments.. and applauds everyone to kick & elbow back those always pushy-people-in-the-crowd-bargers. A world class album, in every respect!

Magic Machines – La Machine Magique EP

Add hip-hop swagger, rock & roll defiance, and the pulsating energy of a nice piece of French House, ball it up, and let it bake in the LA heat, and you have the recipe for how Magic Machines likes to do it…He’s got no fear when it comes to sampling either, going from Michael Jackson to Beastie Boys without hesitation. After a few months of enjoying the free seven song EP he introduced himself with, it was great to hear from the Los Angeles hipstertronic project known as Magic Machines, and it was even better to hear he’s back with word on the La Machine Magique EP we mentioned late last March. The EP is headed for itunes and beatport on June 28th, and it’s four more tracks showcasing his hallmark brand of textured, staticy, dance music with aggressive intentions. The EP will be available to stream via Magic Machine’s Soundcloud and don’t forget to pick up La Machine Magique on the 28th!

Dynasty Electric – Electric Love (Cid D Kid Remix)

The neo-noir pop from Brooklyn duo Dynasty Electric reminds me of the retro-futuristic works of William Gibson, and how his cover artists always seemed to be fascinated with phallic helmets. We fell in love with the premise of Jenny Electrik’s alluring vocals paired with songwriter Seth Misterka’s words and intricately weaved multi-instrumentation. Even while retaining an ultramodern sound, Dynasty Electric cleverly disguises their pop-music with punk, and psych-rock influences, to create something vividly haunting. Their new LP, Golden Arrows is available now via itunes and they’ll be supporting Girl Talk coming up at Summerfest on July 1st. Check out this dubstep remix of “Electric Love” by Cid D Kid, and check back for forthcoming details surrounding August tour dates…

HANA YORI KICHOU NA – Inside Me EP [Shiny Disco Club]

18 is the number, maturity years old is the treasure chest marked with promise and butterfly-excitement.

Inspired by the legendary record label stables of Roulé and Crydamoure (which is absolutely evident throughout these five pearls), Hana Yori Kichou Na brings to the world five new stones of wisdom to make Lord Of The Rings look like a cheap B-Movie made in about 3 days worth of filming, with a budget around $79 and 77 cents.

Imparting an equally vintage and modern, fresh experience, d.i.s.c.o. has just taken a-down-in-one gulp of the punch bowl, swigged a quick spritzer and then miraculously changed itself into a sober & fulfilled, clear sighted production piece of wizardry.

X-Men, speed-of-light mutations..? Eat your heart out!

Cromie – Cohort

Cromie, AKA Nik Hlady, dabbled in production as early as high school, and he eventually  graduated and left for college, where he hosted his own weekly DJ party. A relocation to NYC introduced Cromie to TURRBOTAX and Dub War where he became immersed in premium house, garage, dubstep and everything in-between. It was around this time that Cromie started producing, and now back in LA he continues to evolve his sound and proliferate his tracks from Melbourne to Montreal to Helsinki. If you’re wandering around the San Gabriel Valley, Cromie has a  monthly residency at the Verdugo Bar in Eagle Rock, playing the first Tuesdays of the month. The guy makes perfect “after dark music”, for lurking down Colorado Blvd after hours, looking for something to do, and blaring “Cohort”’s thudding bass out into the night…
