LA ZEBRA – After School Special EP Remixes

Ding Ding! Round Three …

After being blessed with the foresight and the drive to continually persist on producing tracks from out of his college dorm room, success was finally found from Luigi III’s (aka La Zebra) own creative hands. Retaining the effort put in by some driving and aural-watering numbers, the likes of Xinobi, Tobtok, Ecxellior and Reflex are all noted here in creating some digital WAV lovelies. The La Valigetta wholesomeness continues.

COMBOSTAR – Combostella EP

Appreciate? Just appreciate?? Well, this goes beyond appreciating. This is: it’s time to put a heart in your bag and get stupidly loose on the dance floor …

Created by three Parisian stewards of the game, Rudy, Raphael and Denis set on course for a schooling of disco barrage to rival out the bleeps and headbutt the minimalists. Seconds out.. Round Two!

PENGUIN PRISON – Fair Warning (Muffin Remix)

If it smells nice and it looks good, no.. it is not a lovely woman who has just come out from the shower.. it is the aroma of a freshly baked muffin; from Muffin.. aroma-tising things up from sundrenched Melbourne, Australia.

Inspiration taught by Penguin Prison : plus two commendable tracks and one heck of a lush-licked DJ Mix. Tissues @ the ready Aerials, as this Muffin Mix may make you cry …

ALAN BRAXE / NOTORIOUS B.I.G. / DON DIABLO / B.CHEN / SILENX / Tha InsomniACTS

The smell of freshly cut green grass and the crisp breeze of a birds singing day is almost enough to send you back to those blissful lunchtime hours you spent sitting on the field in Junior School.

Failing THAT … An alternative trip to your local park where you have to put up with the smell of dog poop randomly is not what anyone would call as a pleasant lunch break.. but I know which one I would opt for.

Neatly packed into a transparent underarm lunchbox container are five more production-housed edits – consistently prepared and cut with all the wheat germ folic nutrients that Don Diablo, South Florida‘s duo of Tha InsomniACTS, B.Chen, Silenx and our BONUS men: Alan Braxe and Ford & Lopatin can seriously provide.

And no.. you can get your own sandwiches’ …

PHANTOGRAM vs. THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G. – Kleptomaniac (B.Chen Mashup)

NEWMAN WOLF / MANNY ROMANO / HardtoPronounce / LIES

Insane and EFX-addicted.. but typically strengthened and feverously friendly after a half-MAX-glass of white winery.. L.A.’s / Chicago traveller in Newman Wolf gets his electronic stick out with ‘Oh, Rapture’ & ‘All This Evil.’

Philadelphia’s Manny Romano fortifies his resistance towards the fake & BS pretenders who dawn the UK’s version of The Voice splendidly with his own take on Eric Clapton’s ‘Cocaine..’ while the men in charge from Italy as HardtoPronounce (& Moonbass) call out anyone in the same human display to conclude that speaking with the same talk face to face should be exactly identical as writing the very same thing in its ultimate self.

Watching what he says repeatedly is Rome’s Oscar Cini (aka Lies) clearly NOT telling any lies.. and follows through with an ‘O’ and a Foals prototypical remix to toughen up the weak and brace up the sad in exemplary standard.

Wrapped up in a bun, its Numeral One.

ICARUS! – Cosmidú

Nicolas Saavedra aka Icarus! from out of the Distrito Capital in Colombia was kind enough to craft us this track (which started off life as an instrumental) after we initially heard his unsigned remix of Louis La Roche’s ‘Untrue.’ We think it captures the essence of his total production quite resourcefully and without too many vocal distractions overall, so here it is.

Merci beaucoup Icarus!

PARTY IS @ SEVEN

Okay Class, it’s time to take the daily register …

Deletah? – Yes Sir..

Tim Ireland? – Yes Sir..

GWIL? – Present..

FINAL DJs? – They’re not in yet Sir.. Their Mam said that they wet the bed this morning and have to stay back until its fully washed & cleaned …

Disco to House; to Prog to Chill. To those French lil’ touches – and back again. It’s all summed up deliciously. Let’s get the “Red” + Cold Ones out together …

THE 14TH MINUTE – Disco Record (Kreap’s Magic Disco Boogie Mix)

Bad ass. Totally bad ass. The 14th Minute and their “Melbourne brother-from-a-different-Mother” as KREAP - helps them out on this new tale of baked potato funk and VIZ-humour housed-up electro.

Let’s hope that we don’t get to witness anymore naughty goings on in random elevators – eh Mister KREAP?

Ha Ha …

DJ MIX HEAVEN

Beginning with newcomer ENJOi (from Cadiz, Spain) taking care of some recent and own personal favourite elements of disco & house – through to Liverpool’s Yousef reminding us all about why the art of “warming up” in clubland is a worthy process of being honourable, Yousef takes us on a journey through a sometimes overlooked highlight to harness the dexterity of sounds before the main DJ set of an evening, and concludes why it is absolutely centre point in warming a club night to build up the energy, set the pace.. and to create a vibrant atmosphere for the latter DJs that are scheduled to play after them.

Another Spaniard in Towards Green beautifully whips up a meal in ambience & implementation through UK’s radio station XFM and Ben Watt’s promotional label hands in Buzzin Fly - to finally bring to a finish a German benchmark of slow motion & mid tempo house music, with acid house soul & traditional atmospheric funk from Stuttgart’s CLOCHARD.

Wanna go out? I’m coming with you …

Yousef’s opening DJ set – Live @ Carl Cox Revolution at Electric Brixton on 7 April 2012. Mixed live on three Pioneer CDJ 2000’s and one Pioneer DJM 2000 Mixer.

SYKUR – “Curling”

Consisting of Icelanders Agnes, Halldór, Stefán and Kristján, Sykur (translation: Sugar) began in 2009 and quickly established a reputation for packing out parties with girls and boys looking for good times.I fell in love with their track “Curling”, and the video made me love it even more due to it 90′s imagery. The band released their first album, Frábært eða Frábært in October 2009 to much acclaim and commercial success, with the single “Viltu Dick?” from this album becoming one of the biggest radio hits in Iceland in 2009. The guys already play a pivotal role in the Reykjavik scene and have collaborated with the hottest local talent, as well as shared stages with international acts such as Mt. Eden, Peaches, Familjen, Casiokids, Juvelen, Kleerup and Junior Boys, so clearly they move in the right circles, this being further demonstrated by their use of vivid artwork by the inspired, up and coming Icelandic designer Siggi Odds…

Whether you want to call it Dreamwave, Retrowave, SynthWave or just plain new age electro – this electronic sound has recently been kicking up a fuss in the music scene, with kids from 18 years old producing some very cool retro synth oriented electronic music, even Hollywood showing their appreciation via The Drive movie soundtrack. A new Generation of producers and fans are developing who not only want electronic music that is unique, but also heartfelt, powerful and meaningful.

La Chansons – Love Dream

“At the Chateau” still has that La Chansons sense of humor with songs like “Candy Party,” “Dr. & Nurse,” “Heels Come Out at Night,” and “Spin the Bottle.” However, much of this album is inspired by their experiences navigating the double life as day-time workers and night-time rockers. Songs like, “Jerrica,” and “Turquoise Paradise” illustrate the challenges of working 9-5, and the joy that comes when we “flip the switch” to become La Chansons. We dive a little deeper this time with “Ice Princess” and “Love Dream,” and some songs simply describe their real nights out on the town, like “Club Europe,” and “I Can Rock Harder.

Love dream really epitomizes their sound. For more, check out Stickfigure Recordings.
