The Los Angeles based producer Blazin put hip-hop drums against prismatic synths on his last beat tape, “Night Career”, and it’s two parts “Raw Like a Circular Saw” and “Relics of Psychedelics”. Blazin has hooked up with his cohort (whose name I find to be genius) TuskegeeCadet on his latest mixtape, “Keep It 100”, a title that connotes the rhythmic artisanship you can expect from the pairing. All beats were handcrafted by Blazin and TuskegeeCadet, with Blazin handling mixing duties. TuskegeeCadet also helped out with some mind expanding visuals in the form of a promo vid…
The debut EP from The Glass Chain, Fer et Verre, foreshadowed greatness for the trio from Ottawa composed of creative principals Evan Mullen (Bass), Alie Lavoie (Vocals) and Nik Salad (Production, Beats & Synth). Catchy as hell, and moody, with sounds drawn from both the deep and concrete houses, Fer et Verre was balanced by warm, disco-drums that make perfect sense on a sweaty dance floor. The trio, now solidified as such, come from diverse musical backgrounds, so it would make sense for them to be a bit antsy, and eager to sharpen Fer et Verre’s captivating stylistic elements. Their new, no-nonsense EP, Circuit, shares it’s predecessor’s flair for the dramatic, but richer, and nuanced, and strategically layered to hold a dramatic tension throughout. “Bad Teenagers” is the first single, and it unfolds like a three act play, and ends with a lulling horn solo that nobody could’ve seen coming. “Bad Teenagers” alludes to what promises to be another strong collection from The Glass Chain, who we will be following as the Circuit EP is set to arrive on August 18th…
The debut EP from The Glass Chain is entitled Fer et Verre, and they’re skilled in genre hopping, with some hard and heavy moments, soaked in deep-house or french touch, balanced by tracks replete with concrete-house influences, and disco beat dominated material designed to strut to. The trio from Ottawa is comprised of creative principals Evan Mullen (Bass), Alie Lavoie (Vocals) and Nik Salad (Production, Beats & Synth). While these three remain constant, the Glass Chain is a fluid situation, with other musicians being featured during live shows or recoding sessions. The process of finding each other began in nautical fashion, as renaissance men Evan and Nik met on a tallship, St.Lawrence II, sailed for a few years, left for Istanbul to study architecture, and eventually decided to take a serious crack at music. The result is the Fer et Verre EP featuring the lurking “Café Chez Denist”, a dark dance-floor track with haunting film-noir horns. I defy you to keep your hips locked during “September”, another outstanding dark dance track with some irresistible Italo-disco elements. “Homelight” opens like a sweeping Kate Bush number, before the drums kick in beneath Lavoie’s gentle voice, creating that foreboding feel that sends shivers down your back. The good news is The Glass Chain are already diligently working on their second EP, expected late this summer, and there’s no reason to believe that won’t also be rich with substantive dance music…
It has been a long time since Bag Raiders came across A/N but thankfully that time has ended. The duo from Sydney, Australia exploded out of the gate early on with Shooting Starts, but took their time releasing their first self-titled record and it sure paid off. The sound is polished and perfect. Great for just about any occasion.
Chris Stracey and Jack Glass showcase a lot of their work over on bagraiders.com. It’s the site to check. They also just finished their national album tour Dec 5, but most likely won’t be sitting still for long. For all future tour dates check their site!
Karraskilla’s delivers in Expreso Cali, a hard hitting gem off Tren Siete Expreso Cali. The DJ who seems to be stationed all over creates an ambience of dark dub techno and prominent echoing strings in the latest single. A 7-minute beat that does wonders. It’s pulsating, electric, and subtly aggressive. Hard and fitting for a Wednesday.
We all knew Alex Metric was good but he has really outdone himself with these new tracks. The UK native has made a name for himself delivering in nearly everything he touches. In saying that- this new Gorillaz remix is hot.

Rhythmic synth is what it’s all about in this next gem from Diamond Cut. Their trademark heavy synth-styled sound is present in all of these but it’s the fantastic disco-house rendition of LexiconDon’sHeart Attack that has me craving for more this time around. It hit blogs a few weeks ago so if it looks familiar it probably is. However it’s one of those remixes that just seems to stick around longer than it should.
The others below are a bunch of classics that are too good to pass up on. Diamond Cut are currently one of my favourite unsigned projects.
