Retrotation, AKA Matt Olick, is versatile, and he’s not afraid to show it. It’s been a bit since we last heard from our favorite ex-video game developer turned musician with a “passion for inspiring beautiful things that lay dormant inside every human being”. The Mord Fustang mashup is unexpected, and genius, and a promising sign of things to come as Retrotation continues to fool around, mixing together electro house along with the usual club hitters like Afrojack and LMFAO…Check out the new track and a little preview of things to come from our buddy Retrotation…

Ugly Kids Club – “Sheepskin”
Nashville’s Ugly Kids Club is a collaboration between Steve Wilson (producer, songwriter, guitarist) and Aliegh Shields (vocalist, lyricist, guitarist). The duo came together in early 2011, and mutually draw inspiration from The Police, Talking Heads, Sleigh Bells, Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine and The Kills, among others.
They triumphantly return with an artsy video from their self-titled EP. Each track comes with it’s own visual accompaniment, and “Sheepskin” can now be enjoyed (with images) at the Ugly Kids Club YouTube channel. UKC also recently released their self-titled album on iTunes with special limited edition cassettes for their vintage-loving fans. The video for “Sheepskin” is conceptually unique, and features clips highlighting vintage American pastimes, with precious few glimpses of Aleigh and Steve.
The Ugly Kids are on a mission to get closer to their fans, pleasing their senses with vivid visuals paired with rich music. The twosome has been featured on indie music sites nationwide and rocked the audiences of popular music venues in Nashville (as they will be doing in the near future) and beyond. UKC are proving to be anything but ugly with a star quality most only wish they possessed…Check out the flyer for the upcoming UKC show in Nashville and keep watch for a forthcoming album…
Right the Stars – “Stay (Don’t Go Away)”
Right the Stars is a product of overseer Rich Jacques, whose resume includes collaborations with some of LA’s best to create his new sound. The band, a collaborative project with Rich Jacques as the centerpiece, brings together some of the city’s most talented musicians to create an unabashedly feel-good indie-pop record. The collaborative project was born with the track “We Got It All”, a song co-written with Rob Giles and Guy Erez. The track led Jacques to dive into a fuller and more band-centric pop sound which was starkly different from the troubadour mold he had been performing in for most of his career. ”I wanted to stretch beyond the limitations of just a guy with an acoustic guitar” says Jacques. The self-titled debut for Right The Stars was released in 2010, however the project realizes its full potential with Hello Yes OK. Drawing its title from three words which are universally understood throughout the world, Hello Yes OK is a delightful record with hooks piled upon hooks. Creating a musical language which shares the same universality. The guys will be performing a residency at Molly Malone’s in LA, and you can check out “Stay (Don’t Go Away)” below…

TeeTs – Oh No!

Stephen Wright based out of Florida is the DJ/Producer Teets; a high powered remix artist who loves to sink his teeth into a new mix or set. We’ve heard quite a bit from him in the past but the “Oh No!” mix is one of my fav’s so far. Between the vocals and the backdrop, each piece is seamless and perfect for your next party.
TeeTs has a plethora of music available on his Soundcloud. Check it out and grab yourself a free track while you’re at it.
Polish Your Brain – Nu Disco Mini Mix #3
Polish Your Brain is a project which focuses on promoting Polish independent dance music. It is the result of the personal experience gained since 2004 by working with Polish music producers and DJs, preparing their promotion, organizing their events, and getting them laid (one of many services we can have arranged). Although Polish DJs and producers have long been creating some of the hardest hitting, grandma-killing bangers to takeover parties across Europe; the blood, sweat, and beats of many Polish artists remains undiscovered. Check out some of these artists here.

MILLƎRTIME – CRUNCH
MILLƎRTIME is back with a new remix and we couldn’t be happier. Welcome to “Crunch”. It’s a track that literally crunches a delicious combination of amazing beats all into one while lacing together a dance-heavy back beat. Franz Novotny, Dada Life, and Nadia Ali have never sounded so good together.

Foreigner – Cold As Ice (A.Skillz & Nick Thayer Bootleg)
Two of bass music’s biggest global artists and most famed remixers, A.Skillz and Nick Thayer, have joined musical forces on what is looking to be one of the summer’s biggest bootlegs to Foreigner’s “Cold As Ice”.
A legendary track in it’s own right, the guys have added a large dose of calculated bass, some well placed drums and a heavy coating of their signature styles to the mix, and the resulting few minutes are already causing raucous hype across the internet.

Foamo Tremors EP Preview!
Last summer Foamo, or Kye Gibbon as his stamp battered passport purports his identity, rolled out three singles in conjunction with his monthly residency at We Love… Space in Ibiza. The tracks received rave reviews; alongside the glee ridden quotes of the above they saw support from a who’s who of modern dance music, Basement Jaxx, Skream, MJ Cole, Roska, Zinc, Boy 8-Bit and Drop The Lime were all among the high profile fans who supported the release.
Now ‘Celestial’, ‘Ocean Drive’ and ‘Vibrations’ are forming the basis for an eight track EP to be released on Fat! records, bolstered by five brand new tracks which have already ignited a flurry of support from a who’s who of the djing world. When filling in for Annie Mac on BBC Radio One Skream dropped ‘Sherlock’, a dirty bass rumbler that features snippets of UK garage esque vocals underpinning a melancholic breakdown that explodes rapidly into a filth laden powerhouse.
Elsewhere the music on offer represents the multi-faceted approach Foamo brings to his productions and DJ sets, with hints of house, bass music, electro and techno all peppering the release. ‘Tambor’ looks to be the EP’s second breakout production, a fidgeting house groove that cleverly juxtaposes main room appeal with a more laid back aesthetic. ‘There for Me’ is a brilliant main room slab of old school rave nonsense which blends scattershot drum patterns with rave stabs and sirens.
‘Rumours’ starts in classic tech house fashion before morphing into an acid house growler, the Steve Poindexter esque hi-hats pulsating perfectly with the oscillating bassline. And finally, ‘Corridor’ erupts with a flurry of jack hammer drums before being engulfed by a wobbling bassline, swaggering nonchalantly before disintegrating into a flurry of sawing synth stabs. It’s hedonistic music for the more forward thinking patrons of dancefloor escapism, a sound that is big and clever.
Foamo, 24, is best known for releases such as ‘Jookie’, ‘Centavo’ and ‘Generate Some Heat’. He has already established himself as one of the best producers to come out of the UK in recent years, known for the depth and quality of his engineering skills whilst gaining the support of DJs across the globe including Brodinski, Diplo, Armand Van Helden and many more.
R3hab x Calvin Harris – Chainsaw Flashback (Panic City & Miles Medina bootleg)
Here’s another killer bootleg coming your way featuring Calvin Harris (Flashback) and R3hab (Chainsaw The Night) mixed by Panic City & Miles Medina. It’s explosive and a perfect fit for destroying your newly polished hardwood floor. Can it get any better? Probably not.
Check out more at DJ Panic City’s Soundcloud page.
Rita Ora – R.I.P. (Delta Heavy Remix)

‘R.I.P’’s roll call of writer and producers is a force to be reckoned with and marks the spot for the 21 year old who stays true to her UK roots as well as embracing her new US family. The track was written by Young Money superstar Drake, produced by dubstep lords Chase & Status and pop powerhouse duo Stargate, it also features the Prince of UK hip hop Tine Tempah. Both sides of the Atlantic have joined together to create an explosive hit that is fast making Rita the jewel in the Roc Nation crown and this intense remix from Delta Heavy takes the track to late night heights.
ZEDD goes 6 x 6
Already predestined towards owning a birthright of music performance talent in his bloodline, Zedd comes back again onto AN’s holdings with more zest than you can pack into a six carrier bags worth of lemon scrumptious squash.
Having heard the fabulous job that he’s already done on Armand van Helden’s classic of ‘Witch Doktor,’ we find out that Zedd has already gone on to drop more Zedd-patented material via record label outlets such Mau5trap, OWSLA, Skint Records and Interscope.
Compositing his own way into many Traktor, Serato & leather bound CDJ wallets (plus the most coveted Beatport Top 20), Zedd’s own flair for electro house is certain to continue getting many ears and mouths wet, including moistening up certain train spotters bodily parts and their pantaloons too.
Splashin’ out the cash on a new 6 x 6 instead of a normal 4 x 4, we catalogue six of the most fruitful & useful Zedd watermelons which I’m sure are still ripe & full of nectar German goodness. Who knows, there might even be a Z-part 2 …
