Alex Fedorov – “High Balance”

Self-taught, guitar prodigy Alex Fedorov last checked in with his epic “Last Forever”. Still unsigned, Fedorov continues his work out of Bedrock Studios in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, and he’s passed along three of his favorite tracks, as well as a video clip for “High Balance”, one of his signature, hypnotic instrumentals. Fedorov’s textured sound is truly unique, and while the process of constructing his multilayered gems can be consuming, the results are always rewarding. The new album arrives sometime this year, and is due to be titled “Ahead of Time”, and all his material can be further explored at http://www.reverbnation.com/alexfedorov

Chicane – What Am I Doing Here? (Part 1) (Aylen Remix)

Happy days are ahead Aerials, as Aylen is back with an unbelievable follow up, care of Chicane’s luminous toned Original called ‘What Am I Doing Here? Part 1.’

If this is Part One from Chicane then I’m sure looking forward to Part Two … However, as we’re already big fans of Chicane already then let’s just say that Part 2 is a more uptempo affair featuring a top end male vocal.

With Aylen being able to match up against some exceptional progressive standings on his near seven minute remix showcased here, giving an already chilled Original some welcomed added uplift, is the perfect tale of two measures.

I think we all need to reach for the skies together …

Chicane – “Thousand Mile Stare” LP out 15 April 2012 on Enzo Recordings.

2PAC feat. TYCHO – F*** All Y’all (Sound Remedy Mashup)

Beach time, respectable beats; with more integrity and class than a back to back incarceration of Celebrity Juice on replay.

2Pac and Sound Remedy go Chill Out … Just breathtaking!

LORN – Ghosst [Ninja Tune]

Ninja Tune keep delivering the goods and AN keeps monitoring the mail …

Taken from Lorn’s “Ask The Dust” LP (and Antarctica man-in-training) which is due out on 18 June 2012, Milwaukee’s Lorn welcomes in further volume and bite more harmful than a nightmarish dog that’s making a beeline to attack you franticly in your nocturnal dreams.

As a lone track that is bass-crunchy with oodles of drops and sways, just make sure that you’re not spinning yourself around & around prior to listening to ‘Ghosst’ – or you might just end up seeing some ruddy things !!!

BLACK CITY LIGHTS : Parallels EP

Vocally led and produced by New Zealand’s Calum Robb and Julia Catherine Parr, Black City Lights take us on an expedition that’s more carefully laid out than a football stadium covered by a 10,000-strong domino exhibit – waiting to have its first domino pushed and then savoured intently as the rest of the audience watches the rest fall down.

Connecting the bonds between the blissful, the melodic and the unparalleled, Black City Lights objectively give out a clear and textured coating, marred with stretchered mood & tempestuous ambience.

‘Get Away’ is their Jewel of The Nile on “Parallels,” but in no way overlooks the five other equally radiant prisms inside Black City Lights’ incredible EP.

LIES – End Of The Day

The New Division

Here’s a great track sent to us by Lindsay Colip. For those that do not know, The New Division is spearheaded by John Kunkel (vox/producer) and amplified by Micheal ‘Janzie’ Janz (sequencing/synths), Mark Michalski (synths) and Brock Woolsey (guitar). Influenced by Joy Division, New Order and Depeche Mode, they have taken the tastiest slices of these bands and infused some new life into them. Not stuck under the weight and spell of the greats that came before them, but perfectly inspired, these guys have done what most bands can’t do. They’ve remained faithful to their influence without being a copycat. Their sound feels comfortably connected to the past but with a momentum that fastens them to the future. The core stays true to electronic dance music while supporting thick branches of 80’s synth, italo disco and brooding chill wave. Kunkel adds tugging lyrics to the tracks, bringing satisfying emotion to the party.

Kunkel and his mates are constantly writing music. On any given day, they’ll have multiple
songs going at once, expanding and editing whenever it feels right. In early 2011, they felt they had 6 songs right and put out the highly acclaimed EP, The Rookie. It wasn’t long after that they felt they had enough material for a full length, and in late 2011, they released Shadows. This album is generating a huge buzz. As more people put their ears to it, Shadows continues to climb up charts all across the US as well as internationally. Several music publications named the LP a top album of 2011 and as the new year unfolds, the masses are catching on.

The New Division are embracing today’s musical landscape by being multifaceted.
Understanding the relevance of collaboration, they continue to drop remixes of their favorite artist’s tracks and in return, encourage others to remix their own music. They have also started a label, Division 87 Records, which scouts both in the States as well as overseas for new talent. Several members also have side projects going (Gala, John Glenn). If you’re lucky enough to be in the Los Angeles area, you can hear the guys live before they inevitably head across the pond to appease their international fans.

No plans of slowing down, they are striking while the iron is hot. A new EP is due out in late Spring, more live shows are being announced and a festival in their future looks probable.
If they continue at this pace, which seems likely based on the amount of started songs on
Kunkel’s computer, it will be a very ear pleasing year. They’ve also decided to take a more
collaborative songwriting approach on this new EP, which will only enhance and deepen their already solid sound. In sum, The New Division will make you want to get into your car on a dark, rainy night and take a drive though a glittering downtown. Into your soul they will instill a deep longing for the introspective 80’s, when emotions were pinned to your jacket and one glance from the girl gutted you. And above all, they will encourage you to honor your inner demons and in the same breath, remind you to roll down your window so you can blow them out with one long exhale.

Traxx

Imagine you are listening to the most positive and uplifting song that you have ever heard. Now Imagine that you are listening to this song while thinking about a dream you might have and want to accomplish soon. This euphoria of accomplishment, positivity and strength is released in every single song within Traxx’s new Time EP.

The French 19 year-old has really outdone himself this time. Check it out below.

MICHAEL CREANGE + MERIDIAN + OWSEY vs. GOTYE

The respected gravy train with Gotye booties & Gucci platform shoes is by far steamrolling ahead to distance quarters, so we stop for a wee moment to take a sneak little peak into its carriage, before it departs hastily again for destination unknown.

France’s Michael Creange opts for plenty of Cuban and tropical spreads; looping some Oceanside congas & river quenched drums into the pot – and by throwing in any other percussion instrument that he can find – managing to execute its remix-self into a subtle & moderate number.

Meridian harks for the Guetta-esque approach, washing the delay and the drop with maximum jumping varnish and high-end spiriting bounce. This remix should go off – if & when it’s executed properly in ones set we reckon. And on the bonus link featured, we have Owsey - an up ‘n’ comer from out of Northern Island who goes into the Pacific ocean for a wide and atmospheric voyage, and returns with lots of jewels and prestige to boot.

With many underlying & unique features lying across all three remixes – minus the Edam.. minus the hype.. and minus the Babybell plugins.. these mixes should hopefully refresh a current Original, that’s reaching its hands out for epic space orbit & future music-folklore.

World Tour – Believe

Undoubtedly one of Cascine’s most anticipated releases of 2012 is the ‘Believe’ EP by World Tour – a bold, thoughtful and imaginative contribution to pop music.

Last year’s introduction to World Tour – the dreamy breakout single, ‘Sparks’ – drove more traffic to the label’s website than any release to date.

Believe is a glistening pop gem with a stately and slowly-evolving melody. Spend some time with it, and it blossoms into something beautiful and three-dimensional, something that asks for little but offers a lot.

ANDREW BAYER – Time To Forget [Anjunabeats]

Label home of the electronic dance music legends (and young at heart) Above & Beyond, Anjunabeats brings forth a sign-up-track which you would have received if you had showed initial interest involving Andrew Bayer’s “Its Artificial” LP from 2011. Still sounding like it was born from out of a subculture which was specifically built in homing these tracks onto a particular TV advert, Bayer’s melodic and mesmerizing tune just seems to wonder on & on into picturesque magnetic-fields and soothing dimensional pastures. What a tune!
