Inspired by fellow contemporary Jerome Sydenham and pioneered through by DJ / producer Kerri Chandler, MadTech Records is the result of Champion Records founder Mel Medalie and its mother label, Madhouse Records.
MadTech’s latest concept of a fortnightly free download imprint – MTDL – aims to whip into check the essence of “making-sense eclecticizm” and to act as a shining platform to showcase one off tracks from up & coming artists without the commitment of a full EP.
Cloaka & Boxwork’s ‘Toppin Up’ is the next MTDL release coming up from MadTech Records.. but with Aaron Lipsett, Network and Shoot The Ghost layering audio landscapes by the way of clever UK garage trickery and interspersing night time scatters, the future is looking bright for the world of MTDL.
Thefft’s London approach amid the parallels of techno and house are especially thought provoking throughout ‘Focus What’ and ‘Third Year.’ ‘Third Year’ wrestles with an on-the-top-rope garage groove, while ‘Focus What’ teaches & dances at the same time.
Benson Herbert & Leo Picking (as Voyeur) try not to let the neighbours see them whilst they grab a cheeky peek from between the curtains, so whilst they get the house music legend known as Kerri Chandler to install the secret cameras for them, we get down to brass tacks on three underground, aerated functions and accredited beats.
London’s Dary Gold & J Reel (aka Ill Blu) create a barrage of soaped-up energy here. By means of electronic separation and break-tastic disjoints, Ill Blu / Thefft look upon this result as a blatant severance pay of electric goodness.
With all of this subtle and sweltering action going on, you can start to realize why all of this pent-up action happens at a vibrant place called the Boiler Room.
