Fare Soldi – Disco Durello

Fare Soldi (meaning “making money” in Italian) was born in 1999 when two Italian producers named Santana Pasta and Luka Carnifull started melting different musical influences including disco, house, hip hop and indie rock. The result was what they call “Frico Disco”. The first Fare Soldi album was released in Italy on Riotmaker Records in 2002. A few years later, after delivering their unique sound and very tongue-in-cheek DJ sets throughout Italy the duo released the critically acclaimed “One nation under a grande cassa” on Riotmaker Records. At that point Riotmaker Records had also become an imprint on Warner Music. More releases including the “Mago Ninja Robot” Ep and their third album entitled “Sappiamo dove abiti” (Whe know where you live)were soon to follow.
Fast forward to 2010 – with a number of releases under their belt including the most recent: “Houstria Ep” and VIGORILLA, and strong support from MTV (Italy/EU) and a slew of big name artists like Erol Alkan, Aeroplane, Metro Area and Bloody Beetroots showing support, the golden duo (they perform in signature gold jackets) are poised for world domination.

Currently, Fare Soldi’s remix of “Babylon” for Congorock and their remix of Duck Sauce’sBarbra Streisand “are causing an international sensation at clubs and festivals from California to Ibiza. Their new ep is out now: CASOTTO, while remixes and a new tracks are also in the works for next year.

Fare Soldi has performed alongside James Murphy, Calvin Harris, Mr. Oizo, Sebastian, Kavinsky and Crookers. The list continues to grow, so lookout for Fare Soldi they’ll soon be coming to a club, festival or Italian restaurant near you!

Drive (2011) Soundtrack

I just finished watching the movie Drive (2011), directed by Nicholas Refn. Holy shit is it ever fantastic! Honest to god the best movie I have seen in years. The film pins its headlights on the dark implications of unchecked obsession and good intentions gone haywire. That dangerous duality – humanity on the razor’s edge of animal brutality – is played to unnerving perfection by Ryan Gosling. With a low budget and the odd Hollywood marquee, the film was never expected to make the impact it did.

And well; the soundtrack is even more impressive. With a lineup like Kavinsky, College, Electric Youth and more, it slides right into our alley. Go out and watch it.

BLU MUSIC is proud to release “BIG JERK” produced by Christian Falero & Adrian Villaverde.

Co-producer Christian Falero who is a native to the Blu family since becoming involved as part of a production duo with BLU MUSIC founder Sydney Blu  and releasing  several charted tracks since 2010 along with a few solo projects including Enlevez-Moi which included a heavy hitter remix from Paul Thomas.

Up and coming U.S based producer Adrian Villaverde has been working hard on defining his big bass sound which is evident in “Big Jerk”.  This is his debut on BLU MUSIC and sure not to be his last with new releases already in the works. “Big Jerk” is a new age spin on a classic tune  with the vocals re-cut  and original music covered.

PacificUV – WEEKENDS LP

PacificUV releases the new Weekends LP tomorrow (January 31st) off Mazarine Records. The album mixes ethereal shoegaze sounds with electropop and features guest appearances from members of Montreal and The Olivia Tremor Control. I’m digging the single entitled “Funny Girl,” which houses a unique surreal vibe that really captures the album’s essence.

Everett James – Shot Through The Heart

Everett James latest single “Shot Through the Heart” is an electro-soul confession of future blues that pulses with analogue synths and emotion.  It has been getting major love around the world. Most notably Gilles Peterson of BBC radio one has given it multiple spins.

If you dig this track you will definitely love the album metamorphosis. It’s an amalgamation of soul and electro that’s unlike anything you have ever heard before. Every song on it is gold.

The concept for Metamorphosis album began before the birth of Everett James’ son Isaac. Everett felt an evolution within that changed him from what he thought he was into the man he is now. This evolution was a complete transformation that surpassed even what he thought he would become. Everett began the writing process new years 2011, while performing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and continued creating songs throughout the year. The idea behind the sound of the record was to blend live instrumentation, analogue, and digital sounds in a way that was musical. Everett pulled inspiration from seeing the birthplace of humanity in Africa and witnessing his family grow. He hopes you feel the change in the music and the energy of life in the song

Alex Fedorov – “Input Power”

We recently introduced you to self-taught, guitar prodigy Alex Fedorov, and his new track “Last Forever”. Currently unsigned, Fedorov continues to work out of Bedrock Studios in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, and lately there’s been a steady stream of piercing guitar roars emanating from Fedorov’s cell. The man’s been toiling away on the new album arriving sometime this year, and due to be titled “Ahead of Time”. With plans to perform around LA while he continues work on the LP, Fedorov wanted to pass along a new track, “Input Power”, and a larger library of his material can be further explored at http://www.reverbnation.com/alexfedorov

Jesp – “Eyes Close (VIP)”

Miami’s Jesp’s music certainly has a theatrical demeanor, and he’s been hard at work down in South Florida, slaving away and amassing a healthy hoard of material he wanted to share, and there’s even more to come soon…

Ugly Kids Club – “My Soul”

Based in Nashville TN, Ugly Kids Club is the music collaboration of Steve Wilson (producer, songwriter, guitarist) and Aliegh Shields (vocalist, lyricist, guitarist).  The pair formed in early 2011 when they discovered their shared love for minimalistic rock duos such as Sleigh BellsCrystal Castles, and The Kills.

Steve is a Grammy Nominated rock producer and songwriter by day working with bands such as The Juliana Theory and Jonezetta.  Aliegh is a bartender who grew up on stage and in her bedroom teaching herself guitar.  Their contrasting musical backgrounds helped form their unique sound of crunchy beats, fuzzy guitars, and undertones of synth-pop. Check out “My Soul”, off the duo’s self titled debut album released  January 10th on iTunes…

J3000 – “VCO”

Luxar Records is proud to present thier first new signing, J3000, an artist with a  love for classic electro, Detroit techno, house, 80s synths, ambient, soundtracks and fragments of dubstep. J3000 is an alias of Julian Fenner; sound designer, DJ, Mashup pioneer and well-known artist JoolsMF (Young Turks, Mad Decent, XFM). “VCO” nods to the Carl Craig school of techno.  It’s equal parts Landcruising-era Craig and Deep House.  With more than a slight nod to the woozier side of MoTown, this isn’t a peak time banger, its for driving through the city at 3am…

The Beijing Gang ‘Dongdan EP’

“Dongdan” is the first single from a new album’ The Beijing Gang’ by producer and composer  Chris Bemand. Chris has released many innovative electronic albums since his early days with acid jazzsters Marden Hill and filmic Chill Out group 45 Dip. He has collaborated with Ashley Beedle ( Ballistic Brothers/Xpress 2)  Rob Dougan,(Clubbed to Death) and Mark Doyle (Hed Kandi) .  As well as a large discography, Chris has written and produced countless scores for all kinds of TV shows including mainstream cartoon series, Bafta nominated Skunk Fu! and King Arthur’s Disasters. He’s also known for writing choral stings for top shows including the X-Factor and Top Gear.

Dongdan is a clever, quirky fusion of classical Chinese instruments paired with contemporary beats as has ever been heard before. Chris recorded in Beijing with a handful of virtuoso musicians from Peking Opera and the resulting blend is original and unique. Chris also worked with film director Ed Bignell to produce a series of promotional videos (shot in Beijing) to accompany each single release.

Chris explains ‘I was in Beijing and found the most vibrant club scene, but they were playing generic Western music.  I couldn’t understand why no home grown music was being played in the clubs and bars so I decided to experiment.”  Chris set up a studio in Beijing and put his huge experience and creativity to the task of creating something modern, danceable and interesting whilst keeping the integrity of the Far Eastern flavour of the music intact. “All the musicians on the album are at the top of their game but most had never played on Western Music before and couldn’t imagine a fusion of the two styles,” commented Chris.  “They were all knocked out with the finished tracks. The album is intricate but cool, a real feast for the aural senses.”

Squirky Music Ltd is a new label which releases eclectic and original filmic music.

Skrillex feat. Ellie Goulding – Summit (Back From The Future Remix)

Great remix here from Back From The Future.  The hard hitting Electro/Dubstep of Cheyenne Giles and Joe Garcia are from San Diego.  The soft essence that captures the violent musical nature of Skrillex is incredible. I’m a big fan.

SAUR – SocaLoca! (Original Mix)

The new track from SAUR is”SocaLoca!”,  and at 140 BPM it yanks Philly based Igor Makhlin right out of his comfort zone. His girlfriend’s love of Soca music exposed SAUR to something that he found strikingly similar to “sped up Moombahton”. Whatever is sounds like, SAUR scribbled his name all over it, with the infusion of urgency we’ve come to expect from Mr. Makhlin…
