Produced by the mighty George Clinton & William Collins collectively, their P. Funk band was led by one heck of a bass player in William Earl “Bootsy” Collins himself, his brother Catfish, Frank Waddy on the expert drums and Gary Cooper/Robert Johnson on the slick vocals.
Not forgetting Fredrick Allen and then Joel Johnson on the famous keyboards also, ‘I’d Rather Be With You’ signifies the late night or early morning feel n’ groove where we all like to get intimate and sexy with those that we love or those that we wish we were intimate with in the near future…
George and William are certainly the indisputable kings of storytelling funk.
