With more uplifts & rises than a procession of Wonderbra, Ann Summers and Ultimo models all rolled in together, Little Bastard & Zubagroove call on the skills of UK’s Birdee for tweets, whistles and any other bird calls known to avid dance floor bird watchers for disco tinged graces and filtered devilish beats.
Birdee keeps the rhythms simple and flexy on L.B’s & Zubagroove’s original but relies on an old skool, tougher-end house presence to get his point across quite faultlessly.
Heads down.. feet grooving.. is what this lil’ Birdee is all about. Hold onto your grooves & tribal lines – Ibiza fiends!
The Los Angeles fivesome LonelyTrees consists of Annalee Fery, Amy Wood, Max Braverman, George Linev, and Christian Stone, and their debut, self-titled LP was released this past March. Specifically based in Silverlake, LonelyTrees was formed by Stone (formerly of Campfire Girls) and Ferey (of Monsters Are Waiting), whose past projects have been rooted in alt-rock with heavy use of dream-pop/shoegaze elements. I keep coming back to a far less hazy Blonde Redhead when trying to draw a comparison, as Lonely Trees choose not to bury their vivid vocals or prominent instrumentals. The debut LP has the feel of early stuff from Robin Pecknold or Arcade Fire, in that it clearly has the potential to be appreciated by a mainstream audience while retaining an inherent credibility. The album is not available digitally yet, but for now check out “Flutter” and the track’s corresponding video, and keep watch for further details regarding the digital availability of the debut LP from Lonely Trees…
Shouting across a busy & packed overground rail platform from the eclectic and rural constraints of Brixton, UK, Graeme Cohen aka DiscoSocks presents us three seamlessly perfect English roses, cut together with a razor sharp French disco knife.
DJing in n’ around London may well be Graeme’s forte, but as well as entertaining the clubbers behind the ol’ CDJs, these three housey productions should indeed set this man up for more notice via his soon to be enlarged production portfolio.
18 is the number, maturity years old is the treasure chest marked with promise and butterfly-excitement.
Inspired by the legendary record label stables of Roulé and Crydamoure (which is absolutely evident throughout these five pearls), Hana Yori Kichou Na brings to the world five new stones of wisdom to make Lord Of The Rings look like a cheap B-Movie made in about 3 days worth of filming, with a budget around $79 and 77 cents.
Imparting an equally vintage and modern, fresh experience, d.i.s.c.o. has just taken a-down-in-one gulp of the punch bowl, swigged a quick spritzer and then miraculously changed itself into a sober & fulfilled, clear sighted production piece of wizardry.
X-Men, speed-of-light mutations..? Eat your heart out!
Imagine Pink Floyd, Jean Michael Jarre and Anoraak stuck on the London Underground for eight lengthy hours, three Mac computers between them, and an infinite supply of laptop replacement batteries … then welcome your ears & thrills to Embryonik’s remixed version of Alta Toscana’s ‘Stellar’ as that may well be their collective finished idea in progress.
Play dream moments aside, Embryonik has surely come out of his comfort zone and excites all forms of spacey steam to the boil with perfect sweat-on-the-brow timings.
Also included is another modern classic in the making, reinterpreting Jordan F’s ‘SoBe’ to magnificent catwalk rankings.
Known now as one of ‘The Greatest DJs Of All Time’ courtesy of Mixmag magazine, Tiësto reigns on with a ‘Green Sky’ bonus release to accompany his recent Club Life Volume 1 : Las Vegas - unmixed / mixed DJ compilation on his record label called Musical Freedom. Happy, fantastic days are within! Play hard people!

When a remix is moulded to perfection, it pretty much sounds like this … So its with great pleasure that we salute Cosmonaut Grechko.. never the magpies and never the guy who might have a bit of bum fluff on the upper part of his lip as a poor excuse for facial attire via the small shape of a little square. Goulding has never sounded more scrumptious.
Xanexx is back with his heavyweight selection of upfront house, disco screws and tight, techno fusions – added together with all the sharp & palpitating bites of a tank full of piranha fish. “My Techno Your Techno EP” is a cross pollination of house & techno electronica whilst his latest “Mixshow Vol.2” brings together those same visions and even more surprises from the numerous EDM artists we all know and love.
Bravo for Xanexx and hurrah for Xanexx-tech electronica. Who says “nobody listens to techno …?”

Great follow-ups may or may not be an easy feat to accomplish, but Citizen knows most swiftly not to fall into that sometimes popular, once tried and repeated production-route-trap that a few percentage of producers tend to emulate after their previous track was a über hit.
‘Freedom’ by Citizen, lands with respect and we’re all ready to take off once again. Great originality, for a vintage sounding track.

A warm and intelligent melody cradles its love through Adelaide, Australia’s network and staples its intent with positive signs and floaty texture. Can simplicity herald Ben Ferguson aka Snapdragons with any more future plans?

Next stop is Newport Beach, California, for a troublesome, electronic n’ uplifting belter, with more bite to it than a melodic sandwich filled with Nutella, jam and a dashing of honey. Driving & energetic in its richest capacity, Robbie Reinzuch makes ‘Disco Lift’ look like he’s been making tracks all his life. Wonderful tune.
Cromie, AKA Nik Hlady, dabbled in production as early as high school, and he eventually graduated and left for college, where he hosted his own weekly DJ party. A relocation to NYC introduced Cromie to TURRBOTAX and Dub War where he became immersed in premium house, garage, dubstep and everything in-between. It was around this time that Cromie started producing, and now back in LA he continues to evolve his sound and proliferate his tracks from Melbourne to Montreal to Helsinki. If you’re wandering around the San Gabriel Valley, Cromie has a monthly residency at the Verdugo Bar in Eagle Rock, playing the first Tuesdays of the month. The guy makes perfect “after dark music”, for lurking down Colorado Blvd after hours, looking for something to do, and blaring “Cohort”’s thudding bass out into the night…
Made in the cauldrons of Studio 54 and blessed with the ghostly spirits of DJ Sneak and old skool Bob Sinclar, The Phantom’s Revenge – does exactly that, and refuses to let go its stronghold on certain dancefloor control the world over.
Listing Melee, Ghosts Of Venice, Justin Faust, Canada’s Dominic Pierce and Lazy Ants as part of TPR’s new all-hail-comrades, The Phantom’s Revenge wonderful & disco filtered friendly “Charlie EP” relishes the pallet and makes those dancing feet bounce with joy.
Released on 7th June 2011 through La Valigetta this is sure one exciting remix package.
Coming out from Cape Town, South Africa, the ever-flowing fan support and Facebook-followers that have emerged onto The Dirty Skirts six year legacy already have filled them superbly with excellent appraisals and positive cheers all round.
‘Strike The Match’ comes right out of the starting blocks as a sturdy rock track, a radio friendly conqueror and a playlist/remix contender for future remixes on the cards.
With a golden vocal sparking its crisp loudness through a track with vintage instruments and classic band cohesion, The Dirty Skirts have just got themselves another new fan.
