SAUR found himself the recipient of much love as we introduced you to a pair of his lethal M.I.A. remixes a while back. The Holland, PA native recently checked in with a pair of new tracks, “Flootahton” and “Big Fat Bass”. Igor Makhlin, AKA SAUR, is right in his wheelhouse with the dutchy, synthy club banger “Big Fat Bass”, and the laid back, flute track “Flootahton” is a nice reprieve. “Flootahton” is a featherlight floater intended to lull you to a more serene place, and those intentions are shared by SAUR’s recently formed side-project called The Fairground.
Last weekend SAUR and his bud Derek Salazar of The Forest Wall, decided to make some chill-wave electronica, and The Fairground was birthed. The concept behind the project was to explore a new genre by contrasting SAUR’s Electronica/House/Hip-Hop leanings with Salazar’s indie/singer-songwriter feel. I was initially surprised that SAUR would be into chill-wave given his strong dutch-house influences, but the guys have created something trance-inducing, and truly beautiful. The first single is April (Original Mix) , and if you find yourself slow dancing in the dark this summer, do it to this. I can’t wait to see what other gems the partnership between SAUR and Salazar will yield, but they’ve made a hell of a first impression with a piece of music that embodies everything chill-wave has come to represent…These are exciting times for SAUR, as he has recently joined First Class Music, and you can keep up with him on Twitter here…
