After being swept away by their delightful Billy Ocean cover, I’d been eagerly awaiting the second EP from the guys of a&r. Rocko Rochee and Alex Kramer love making pop music, but their true passion is shrouding those pop-tracks with electronica, as they endeavor to achieve the “perfect hybrid of human and machine.” March 31st saw the release of Aquarium, the second collection of original music from the Chicago duo, who up and relocated to the epicenter of pop-culture, at the moment, Brooklyn, New York.
Prior material has come slathered with electro-pop fun, and that holds true for every one of Aquarium’s breathtakingly exhilarating tracks. If you’re planning a scenic summer, uptempo beauties like “Prey on my Skin” are designed for driving, and the lurking title track is as addictive as the the Ocean cover. Aquarium is a concentrated dose of a&r’s carefree pop music, wrapped in ravishingly beautiful, retro-synthetics, and to help put you in the mood, check out the guys in their Aquarium EP Teaser video, as they capture the blurry beauty of floating through a city under cover of darkness, with a sustained head-knock thanks to an amazing EP…
