It’s baccccccccck!!!! But did it ever go away?
Oh yes, the ultra-ultra-cool house anthem from 1999 is back in 2011 with a thumbs up re-jack from producer/DJ Steve Forest who adds his own take on an already brilliant dance anthem.
First imparted on the world via the outstanding Phunk Investigation remix which took The Ones, ‘Flawless’ to critical acclaim, it then went down the surprising route of being sampled by the pop icon known as George Michael, till its resurrection again for an updated and newly formed 2011.
Preferring the Phunk Investigation Club Mix on the original Positiva / A Touch Of Class release with lesser use of the longer additional vocal, Steve Forest’s Extended Mix doesn’t really loose much credibility on this update and just gives his version a little bit more punch and space than his previous audio predecessors.
Whenever an update of an old anthem comes back around, then you always secretly hope for some worthy remixes that credit the Original or older remixes with some good stance (and those that don’t leave you hunting around for anymore Dairylea or Babybell metaphors..) but shocking enough, Hard Rock Sofa and NJey make a very well timed DHL delivery and outstandingly, their 2011 edits don’t need any overly frustrating call-backs either!
When Steve Forest teams up with Nicola Fasano on this package later on, they do come off with a near Swedish House Mafia ‘One’-like build on the intro, with some of the refrain parts going down the route that makes Hed Kandi / Fierce Angel well known for what they both bring to the table.
The real stunners however, would have to be Hard Rock Sofa… As that remix is uplift-personified – with NJey’s mix following extremely close in suit! (You need to hear Hard Rock Sofa’s version to believe it as that is wonderful stuff!)
My bowler hat is well and truly off for this one folks, so thank the heavens and the stars that Steve Forest hasn’t lost any of his true flawless faith!!!!!
