MGMT – Congratulations (Remixes) EP [Sony]

Erol Alkan has done it again kids! He really does cast his ol’ fishing net out long n’ wide, and like normal, he comes back with a bulging bag full of sweet lemon scented fishes and beautiful baked loafs to wet everybody’s appetite! Well done Sir!

‘Congratulations’ (Erol Alkan Remix) embarks on a celestial ride without taking a visionary 2001 space odyssey as a slight detour, while Ed Banger’s workforce go jumping on some well placed trampolines in the sight of that slam dunking uplift, which centres around a few ‘Siberian Breaks’ that lead onto an old skool AIR-like quality. (It flutters off towards the end to a world that afterhours electronica and James Zabiela know all too about. Wonderful!)

‘Brian Eno’ (Cornelius Mix) wraps things up with a trademark ode to the most celebrated of studio album producers and Cornelius polishes a track which sounds like you should be in a ballroom looking all prime n’ proper, with the all ladies doing a grand curtsy in their big, tent like skirts and the men bowing gracefully once they all know that they are on a promise for a good time later. Quirky, bleepy and original, Cornelius throws out a funny but highly good remix.

The “Congratulations” LP has been thrown a long awaited and most subliminally sighted lifeline. Top marks to all involved!

HOLY GHOST! – Holy Ghost! LP [DFA Records]

Can an album really have a perfect ten of the most heart resounding tracks ever created and put them onto a path of electronic, disco and cosmic funk-anthem vastness? Well.. the answer may well have to be yes, as Holy Ghost! with their “Holy Ghost!” LP have truly gone out of their inspired way to sculpt a sure-fire contender for the newly entitled “1002 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die” textbook.

Back in 2010, Holy Ghost! dropped a “Static On The Wire” 4 track EP featuring the album entitled track of the same name and included ‘Say My Name,’ ‘I Will Come Back’ and very emotive ‘I Know, I Hear.’ Since then, Holy Ghost! have gone on successfully to entice new fans (including myself!) and to reconfirm to the world, that Holy Ghost! do it their way and by no one elses!

The four tracks on our listening players below just highlight how memorable this album surely is to become with ‘Static On The Wire’ already being a familiar favourite of theirs, together with the emotional and star gazing ‘Jam For Jerry,’ the fantastic and ultra cool LCD Soundsystem-like ‘Hold On,’ the sexy n’ true disco-like / lets walk down Hollywood Boulevard in a slick, head swaging way of ‘Slow Motion’ and the Chromeo n’ Breakbot gene spliced, ‘Static On The Wire’ – once again.

The real surprises come within the other six tracks on Holy Ghost!’s LP, with a legendary 80’s superstar guest singing on ‘Some Children,’ ‘Hold My Breath’ going wonderfully New Order and the album opener ‘Do It Again’ being a hand over one’s eyes and triple ultra violet ray moment; as that track shines so brightly you may well be forced to go down to your local pharmacy to get some extra strong sun tan & lotion spray to protect yourself from its aural hot beams!

It’s a true modern day classic which flips coolness and art on its head via an Art Of Noise-esque quality sound throughout, so without a doubt ‘Do It Again’ is truly a masterpiece!

Released on the 11th April 2011 through DFA Records, the “Holy Ghost!” LP has its magnitude set on Phoenix like events and Glastonbury type memories till it’s final mastered Omega. Concluding a magnificent output from these two Brooklyn, New York men, Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser (aka Holy Ghost!) have put themselves onto the 2011 census and into the immortalized history books!

FELIX CARTAL – The Joker EP [Dim Mak]

Felix Cartal seems to be the man that does no wrong on the ol’ Aerialnoise Mackie’s at the moment, so it’s with great pleasure that we bring you his recently new EP entitled “The Joker.”

Unleashing a true Armageddon-like beast in its powerful six minute and two seconds roar, ‘The Joker’ electrifies its electronica and bleepiness so dominantly, that the MI5 and the NSA would seriously have to ask this guy for some lessons in real brute force and about his uniquely owned “by any means necessary” action. With as much punch and jump as a Mexican jumpin’ bean, ‘The Joker’ sets up its counterpart quite nicely in side-stepping its competitors on the field and curling a wonderful shot into the back of The Riddler’s back net. A full energy uplift is laid out on the table for ‘The Riddler’ all the way!

Felix Cartal may have already produced a winner in his formidable Green Velvet remix of late, but from one Batman fan to another, I’m pretty sure that all of these super-villains will not be on the verge of giving up their pursuits of the good guys just yet! A wonderful EP for these two tracks!

GORILLAZ – Revolving Doors / Amarillo [EMI]

What would the world be like without Blur and Damon Alburn? Well, we sure wouldn’t have any Gorillaz thats for sure!

Gorillaz keep going strong into the unknown realm of the future and dreamscape their latest release through a corridor of Revolving Doors and bizarre looking Amarillo’s along the way. Chilled and relaxed for stretching your legs out to or whilst listening intensively with your over-grown Skull Candy headphones, ‘Revolving Doors’ and ‘Amarillo’ carry on with a commitment and longevity that gives the recently bad news of Faithless splitting up for good, a true but unbelievable tear to ones surprising, hard-working eyes.

Keep going Gorillaz!!!!! (and # Faithless: I am stunned, truly, stunned!)

DISCO REASON – Button (Club Mix) [Invisibles]

This track by Disco Reason should be far longer.. but as I only currently have a version that lasts 4 minutes and 42 seconds long, then I’m pretty sure that there will be an extended version available quite shortly.

As soon as the first glimmers of chords and pianos whisk in then it is evident that there is something very special brewing in the air, with only enormous good things being imparted from this stunning piece of dance music.

Button’ has got a hefty “Aerialnoise.com anthem stamp” written right all over it!

MADONNA – Miles Away (Morgan Page Remix) [Warner Bros.]

Waah-waah-waah, waah-waah-waah-waah!

That’s the sound of what bacteria partials under the microscope make when you whisper the word ‘change’ or use the tiny glass slab marked ‘big idea’ to them.. so if you’re an omeba and your vision is blindsided by that personal computer black-cloak: dated 1969 and your Superman, can’t see through lead vision has got you bed n’ Starbucks Coffee ridden.. then look no further, as the crèche with all those bald and angelic babies is to your left, and the sanctuary for adults and connoisseurs is marked to your right.. By all things music first @ Aerialnoise dot COM.

(Cheap pun for Aerialnoise there…)

Madonna on the other hand, is always known for changing her image, style and musical inspirations/outlets overall.. so with that as her constant drive, that’s pretty much why she has been given the media title of “The Queen of Pop” for a fair few decades now.

In 2010 and 2011, she continues in that vain with a heart seeking Morgan Page remix that re-introduces those of the world that Madonna is still kickin’ n’ dancing’ (and stops those good ol’ promo companies out there from just sending through an ambiguous CD with a big “M” marked on the front of it too.) Morgan Page and Madonna (plus many of her eclectic remixers over the decades), have made a great and most recent connection.

Let’s get those leotards fitted and cleaned forthwith!

M.I.A. – Bucky Done Gun (SAUR Bootleg) / M.I.A.- Paper Planes (SAUR Moombahton Bootleg)

They do good house in The Netherlands, and apparently the same holds true for Holland (the one located in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania). SAUR has established a Dutch House stronghold in his hometown, 25 miles outside Philadelphia. The 25-year-old producer and DJ has been active for a while, but the last year has seen a spike in interest, as his infectious, heavily Dutch House influenced music has been proliferated by radio stations across the globe. Coverage by multiple blogs has provoked  thousands of downloads, and his latest track, “Latin Spice” will be released soon on Carlos Barbosa‘s label, First Class Music. His recent remix of M.I.A.‘s “Bucky Done Gun” should induce another flood of downloads for Igor Makhlin, AKA SAUR, as he looks ahead to a busy year of producing original music, and remixing anything he can get his mitts on. If you’re interested in having your music manipulated, rest assured,  you’ll be in good hands with SAUR, as further evidenced by another heavenly M.I.A. remix, “Paper Planes”,  where he does some excellent work with that Clash guitar riff…

MICHAEL JACKSON – Off The Wall (Junior Vasquez Radio Mix) [Epic]

Sometimes the word “legendary” is thrown about too hastily, but in reflection of Junior Vasquez’s DJing and production prowess during its peak in the Nineties (via New York/Europe), Junior Vasquez and Junior Vasquez’s career back then was well and truly it!

Commanding certain A&R’s decision making to always see Junior as their must-go-to-guy (at the time), was nearly an endless and ongoing trend. Because of this prestige and aura that surrounded Vasquez’s profile consistently, achievements and portfolio honours on Junior’s part included his controversial sampling of Madonna on his track called ‘If Madonna Calls,’ remixing global superstars and artists such as Moby, X-Press 2, Loleatta Holloway, Lisa Stansfield, Cher and the Spice Girls, and in more recent times establishing a well-sounded alliance with DJ/Producer Johnny Vicious, to remix ‘Gimme More’ by Britney Spears.

Michael Jackson, as well as many many others have used Junior Vasquez’s talents as a brilliant true addition to inject their own originals further into the club arena, whilst enhancing the longevity of their own Originals to carry it on as a musical staple for months and years to come.

Even though the renowned New York Sound Factory (where Junior Vasquez DJ’ed at) came and went by without not leaving many of its tales of folklore, ambience and mystic to still reminisce over, Junior in today’s era has changed his original clouded mindset from a subtle, but yet heavily dangerous narcotic completely and is focused more on his record label Junior Vasquez Music with DJing to all that fancy a bit of his outstanding retro, deep and electro tribal elements.

Oracle seeing in its hindsight, Junior has left a steadfast back catalogue of tremendous and spirited originals and remixes, so it’s with true calling that J.V. and M.J. are another in the world’s upmost most memorable music heroes.

MICHAEL JACKSON – Stranger In Moscow (Jerome Isma-Ae Remix) [CD-R]

What can be said about this man, that hasn’t been said already?

Probably that with only a few days after Michael Jackson’s shock departure from God’s green earth, Jerome Isma-Ae moulds a priceless symbol that forms a perfect capture into why we all found Michael’s departure such a shock at the time and a positive reminder of why his musical impact on the world affected millions upon trillions.

Jerome Isma-Ae brings you his snapshot of one of Michael Jackson’s legacy-forming tracks that is a true classic in its own right. R.I.P. MJJ.

CHICANE – Poppiholla (Disco Citizens Remix) [Enzo Recordings]

Chicane. Legend. Longevity. Hero.

That is why all or any of those fly-by-nights on previous and forthcoming Pop Idols should take serious note and realize that the only REAL forms of success come from when folk actually remember who you are five, ten or fifteen plus years after you’ve had your one year’s peak of overly compacted “success.”

Chicane has humbly influenced many; inspired millions; and continues onwards today on the very same spark and enthusiasm that brought him to the forefront back in the Nineties. (Just note Robyn’s own career journey too, if you don’t believe me!)

Poppiholla’ is astonishing to listen to as one of his most recent examples from 2010, and with a never ending, unfinished Rubik cube of past releases to always go back to, Chicane soldiers on in an always refreshed and updated sound that continues to attract many of new and recent followers that are ever so eager for his heavenly Chicane sounds.

Long live Nick and long live Chicane.

JOSH GABRIEL & ROB STERN – Disco Sticks (Howard Kiss Remix) [Different Pieces]

More commonly known from within the allied powers of Gabriel & Dresden, Josh Gabriel slips one aside and comes away from his own solo projects for a bit to make a techy and mystical track called ‘Disco Sticks’ with producer Rob Stern.

Ableton and its band of merry plug-ins and samples helps forward this delight onwards and pulls inwards Mister Howard Kiss to peck a few flavours here n’ there before he moves onwards for his next conquest. Dangerously addictive and thumbs-up-standing in its drop, ‘Disco Sticks’ clobbers anybody over the head on request and knocks out the dance floor time and time again. A great tune for the sets!

Available to view below is another modern day classic by Josh Gabriel via his recently new concept as Winter Kills. The track is entitled ‘My Friend.’

MELL TIERRA – D.I.S.C.O. (Original Mix) [Spinnin']

Mell Tierra has to be a king-sized force for the future because if he keeps on going like this then only the billboards left in Piccadilly Circus will be his only target left for worldwide notoriety and domination. Headhunting his way through a flurry of dark n’ loopy rolling atmospheres, D.I.S.C.O. hand-dances upwards to smiley, celebrated heights and stays there for a while just to show off some more before it brings everybody back down again.

Splendid beats and splendid sounds!

THE TRAMMPS – Disco Inferno [Atlantic]

1976 was the year that The Trammps were born and boy did they take on the world with their long lasting vision. We revisit their unbelievable worldly anthem in the shape of ‘Disco Inferno’ to staple together a reminder that not only did disco not die, but since its evolution into the genre known as house music, disco has been resurrected in parts to be re-born, re-branded and re-sought after in the exact same urges as it did before AND after Saturday Night Fever the movie dropped. Trammps, we salute you!

Thank you for the trumpets, the drums, the lyrics and thee music! Let’s boogie!!!!!

Kauf – Relocate

Kauf has surfaced in Los Angeles with something for lurking down deserted boulevards. “Relocate” sounds like a piece of LA chill-wave with a noir veneer, a darker demeanour, and the gigantic, bouncy bass-line you would hope for. After a day of being pummeled by incandescent rays, when the sun lowers and you’ve got just the right fade, “Relocate” is going to be pretty damn spot on. Cryptic, moaning vocals, and haunting synths perfectly capture the bi-polar nature of Los Angeles, on a night when you bypass the endless nightspots, and elect to cruise the surface streets.

A new track from Kauf will be here in April, an EP is in the works, he’s working on a video for “Relocate”, and when all that is in the rear-view, he plans to DJ and perform around LA.  Kauf is one of many talented LA artists creating hazy, tranquil music, seemingly endemic to Southern California, and “Relocate” gives cause for anticipation for April’s EP…
