Great minds think alike, so The White Panda have seemingly followed the lead of Daft Punk when it’s comes to facial obstruction. I like the robot look better, but there’s something to be said for a man in a finely cut suit and an abstract panda mask. The White Panda slipped us this intense fusion of Guru Josh Project’s “Infinity 2008” with Katy Perry’s seductive vocals from “Teenage Dream”, off their forthcoming record. I’m a pretty big  Hood Internet guy, and have been reluctant to listen to any other prominent mash-up producers, especially after hearing their inspired CFCF / Ice Cube marriage, so this was my first panda encounter.
I’d never heard Perry’s powerful delivery of the sultry lyrics from “Teenage Dream” and they become further overwhelming when paired with Guru Josh Project’s suddenly accelerating instrumentals. This was an impressive first taste, and if you feel the same way, The White Panda make it more than easy to download any and all of their music free of charge and that’s excellent value for money.
