Tommie Sunshine – Eyes Towards Summer DJ Mix‏

Coming straight out the BK, Tommie Sunshine is a mid-west rave legend, and he’s doing delicious work as an artist, remixer, producer, label owner, DJ, journalist, and songwriter, while walking around with a glorious head of hair. His sound is heavily influenced by Kraftwerk, AC/DC, and Farley Jackmaster Funk, and he’s known for baffling DJ sets and some renowned live performances. As his name connotes, Tommie’s thinking about golden bars of sunlight, and the freedom that comes with summer. To get a jump start to things, Mr. Sunshine focused his gaze towards the rays, and compiled the “Eyes Towards Summer DJ Mix”. You’ll get an eclectic, and often nonsensical, mix that includes appearances by Autoerotique and Skrillex, Rihanna, and Katy Perry, among others. “The Eyes Towards Summer Mix” is a great way to get a little Tommie Sunshine in your life, with a strong blend that will definitely get you in the mood for summer high jinks.

DINKA feat. SYNTHETICSAX – Elements (Syntheticsax & EDX’s Sunshine Remix) [CD-R]

One of my most personal and highly rotated tracks from last year is by Dinka with ‘Elements.’ Having enough strength to carry on through to surprise the smegging joy out of the 2011 Miami Music Conference and the Ibiza season (forthcoming) is Syntheticsax’s own remix of ‘Elements.’

What makes this mix a little bit more special is that there is an additional feature of saxophones and (non Kenny G) harmony which you would only get in the sunshine state known as Ibiza or via the route from good ol’ Miami, Florida.

Ditching the glorious vocal which is on the other EDX version, Syntheticsax continues playing out those improvised beats and magic’s this tune TOTALLY to the heavens.

World Class and above, ABOVE standard!

D-MAD – She Gave Happiness (Arty Remix) [Enhanced Progressive]

Oh Happy Days!!!!

Youngster Arty (by nowhere seems least when it comes to his production skills), has moulded a true stunner in the form of a MIGHTY six foot-minute and six second-inch glory.

Having a lady that tall by you side btw, one thinks you would need a trusty D-Mad step ladder

Nonetheless, on with the tunes.. and sure enough Arty and his trusty euphoria tones and crisp Logic Pro drumming kit, hammers out a delightful and lovleeee remix that you honestly do NOT want to end.

Pure bliss and Arty-happiness!!

ELLIE GOULDING – Starry Eyed (Dexcell Remix) [Bye]

With this being Ellie’s most well received debut release and (at the time) was certainly not her last, we take a trip into Cosmic Gate’s DeLorean for a second time and come back with a Dexcell retake on ‘Starry Eyed.’

Wall to wall drum & bass, is the gold star service which crowns this sovereign, but NOT in the form of over exuberant darkness and highly extreme bass-end patterns.

Light enough to served on your golden ended toast of the mornings, Dexcell shows the world that truthful light is at the end of the tunnel and sets things up perfectly for any ‘fine tuned’ playlists that are awaiting the next unexpected tune!

Occupy loudly!!

ELLIE GOULDING – Guns And Horses (James Rutledge / Neo Tokyo Remixes) [Polydor]

One of the very first Ellie Goulding promos that I ever received was this one – ‘Guns And Horses.’

(I was a bit late on her debut release ‘u see!) And pretty much since then, I’ve been keeping tracks of Goulding’s material (and to see if her PR team lives up to their own hype) for more interesting sounds and further more excuses to turn up my speaker bins to max!

On ‘Guns & Horses,’ Neo Tokyo provides a truly cosmic remix that sharpens those extraterrestrial rhythms and hugs your ears back with lots of sensational aura. James Rutledge however, breaks through the junior school sports day tape and celebrates his time stretching version of progressive dance music perfectly.

That’s the reason why we like it, and that’s the reason why it’s special, just like you!

Baron Bane – My Slow World

Desirous for sweeping, Scandinavian roctronica? Swedes BaronBane bring the anguish on “My Slow World”, the third single from upcoming LP, LPTO. They sound someplace between Lykke Li and  Ladytron, with some Raveonettish moments, but this new single is the beginning of a subtle stylistic shift, with an intimate blend of old inspirations, and current situations.

I’m an absolute sucker for a fragile voice, and Ida Long’s hearbreakinlgy delicate tone is the captivating calling card for BaronBane. This is not only the case on “My Slow World” alone, as you will discover should you check out thier soundcloud, and their enchanting track “Orchids”, and it’s ranging remix derivatives. LPTO is released on April 20th by the band’s own label Stupid Dream Records,  in collaboration with Despotz Records, and there’s no reason not to expect fairly large things from BaronBane and their truly unique sound…

KELE OKEREKE – Everything You Wanted (Punks Jump Up / Mujava & Qness / Falke Remixes) [Polydor]

I can’t help but smile to myself every time I hear Kele’s vocal on tracks now because not only has he branched himself away from Bloc Party’s quick but yet worthy career declaration, he’s managed since then to attach himself onto some fantastic remixes and align himself briefly with a certain person who is now known as the “Greatest DJ of All Time.”

As well as that, I will always find parts of his vocal range extremely distinctive for when I’m trying to sing back the tunes to myself!

So well done Kele, keep on rockin’ those lyrics!!

‘Everything You Wanted’ has been up there subtly for a while, but we bring it back down to earth in its exhilarated stance by the Punks Jump Up Remix Dub and DJ Mujava’s & DJ Qness’s Club Serenity Dub to give it that extended kiss of life.

On the bonus additional link is the Fred “this man seems to be everywhere” Falke version, so do enjoy that edit – Freddy Falke die-hards!

JAMIROQUAI – White Knuckle Ride (Remixes) [Mercury Records]

Hey Hey – Its Jamiroquai!! – Welcome back Geezer!!

And with welcomed applause he brings in his mates: Alan Braxe, Penguin Prison and good ol’ Monarchy for all the late night festivities.

Alan Braxe serves a restaurant quality of starters, hors d’oeuvres and little extra nibbles on the side for everyone to enjoy while Monarchy and Penguin Prison share anecdotes over who has the better remix between them.

All in all, a water tight remix package with plenty of rotation for any/all White Knuckle theme park fans! Classy!

“POPPYSEED” (Electro-Nintendo Dubstep) – Retrotation

A while back we introduced you to Retrotation and his quelling dubstep remix of Aydio’s “Deltitnu”. As Retrotation, AKA Matt Olick, continues to establish his dub credentials, he called an audible and kicked us something for the gamers. Soaked in 8-bit chirps, the Electro-Nintendo Dubstep remix of “POPPYSEED” is garnished with a dash of dubstep wub, but the rest is sheer elecrto-house dynamism, and I’ve been dangerously close to letting it shatter the windows of my home and vehicle. It’s nice to hear Retrotation has not stifled himself with parameters, and decided to display some rather impressive range. The “POPPYSEED” remix is truly a vicious head-knocker that can start or finish the night, but seriously watch your levels because hearing loss among young people is a growing concern, and Retrotation staunchly believes that “120+ decibels will not help you dance better”….

JASON CAINE – Oxide (Original Mix) [Zimbalam]

Fuelled by the gift of creativity, here is the UK man again who we should quite rightly rename Jason OXIDE.

Oxide’ being the track in question, currently tension-fies the audio sparks greatly and enhances the art of euphoria to a brand new concept all round.

There are no vocals and no cheese – just great electronic dance music to sense, create and put out there for all our minds to enjoy.

Raising that glass of Champagne @ YOU, right about now!

Play LOUD!

THE COUNT & SINDEN feat. MYSTERY JETS – After Dark [Domino]

Taken from their 2010 album “Mega Mega Mega,” The Count & Sinden produce a rather summery tasting in the shape of ‘After Dark.’ Stuffed full of memorable remixes, Buraka Som Sistema surprise us all with a densely tough and whirly mix which wouldn’t sound out of place in the dark clubs and light bars of Ibiza.

Oliver Twizt rains down a deviously, twisted and metallic remix thats full of bleeps and bongs with feather-like cowbells thrown in for good measure. C.R.S.T provides a traditional UK Garage reinterpretation which will please the ‘really’ old skoolers in the house and all UK Garage heads around. (If you like Todd Edwards’ material then seek C.R.S.T’s version out – pronto!)

Also included is The Count & Sinden’s own Extended Club Mix, so for an extremely sunshine filled track from Hervé’s alter ego and his pal Sinden, ‘After Dark’ still reigns.

DARWIN DEEZ – Constellations (T.E.E.D. / SBTRKT Remixes)

If a track sounds very familiar to you…. then it probably is. But if it still sounds recognizable and you know to yourself that this is the first time that you’ve heard that song, then hey! – thats the same thing I thought when I first heard this D.D. Original!

For the mixes on ‘Constellations,’ top marks go out to SBTRKT who go sideways left: joyful & voyager and then sideways right: tribal & emotional! T.E.E.D (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs) have lots of fun going all spacey and melancholy, but keep things on course to traverse that excellent lead vocal between those crazy audio landscapes.

Expressive melodies are here!!

THE COUNT & SINDEN – Addicted To You (Lone Remix)

Starting off with a beautifully coiffured, tribal intro on this outstanding Lone remix, Lone then instantly moves it into old skool and hardcore riff territory and refuses to let you go until his wrist lock of four minutes and twenty odd seconds is totally up!

Astounding use of water-dropped, light vocals and endless drum beats make this remix a sure fire winner!

Master Lone has left rehab!
