Belgium seems to be a highly progressive country for when it comes to exceptional and immense artists rolling out like a production line on a VERY regular basis.
But unlike a dirty production line belt (where everything is the bleemin’ same), Soulwax aka 2manyDjs, the duo formally known as Aeroplane, legendary Trance producer & DJ, M.I.K.E. aka PUSH, have all gone on to become staple dance icons and worldwide electronic dance music legends.
Now in 2011, it seems that we have a new jewel in the making… And this Jewel of the Scheldt is being perfectly modeled into the form of a glistening gemstone called the brilliant Amatorski.
Gentleness, subtlety, precision and poise are all features needed to gain a powerful sound outward from very minimal effort used. As this mere EP only lists four tracks that force the listener to ditch all of the common sounds they may or may not be used to, in the same breath it brings the listener back very quickly to an soft aura which they will find very comfortable to listen to again and again consistently.
‘Come Home’ has this unbelievable modern-day-classic elegance to it, which sets it apart from the rest and makes it the leading track winner here. ‘The King’ follows in suite (no pun intended), with a very melancholy feel in its air and accompanied with butterfly-like, xylophone twinkles and miniscule droplets of icey-cold wintery magic.
‘Same Stars We Shared’ sums up what the real alternative sound is all about and ‘My Favourite Work of Art’ is as sad and as orchestral as a silent mime in Covent Garden’s market square.
EP in all, it’s a starry eyed ten out of ten. And for further information on the glorious Amatorski, take a little tinkle over to that mighty conglomerate known as iTunes for more tip toe, aural tweakings and more wholesome aural dives into a river of sensational destiny.
