Data Romance – Bones

The the crazy cool peeps behind Shattered Vinyl introduced me to the deadly Vancouver duo Ajay Bhattacharyya and Amy Kirkpatrick (aka Data Romance). The two just released their video to the newest single Bones on AUX yesterday. It shows some fantastic raw footage and gives a little hint as to what a Data Romance show would be like.

As a special bonus the duo are giving away their EP for free in exchange for a post or tweet!

The video is directed by Tash Baycroft.

Small Pyramids [Look No Further]

Small Pyramids (aka Californian Zach Hunsaker) has provided me with a luxury of sound I have not heard in long, long time. The deep house beats and smooth percussion he brings out in the Another Way To Feel EP has left us in an inescapable trance.

One of the many delights found within is Look No Further. It’s a track with tons of cosmic disco energy that reinterprets the Dennis Edwards classic Don’t Look Any Further. It’s absolutely stunning.

StardonE + them:youth

Got hooked on StardonE and his new remix package to them:youth’s Toothache this weekend. The synthetic sound is great, esprcially when plastered to the light vocal samples them:youth provide in the original. Hearing StardonE on here is nothing new. Last month the bad ass knocked most of our listeners on their asses with his track CT, a track that made it all the way to number 3 in the Monthly 5. It’s damn good.

Have a listen to those past tracks here.

Treasure Fingers + Gabriell

I absolutely love this mix! It’s electro funk at its finest. Italian graphic designer, DJ and producer Gabriell revamped the wonderful Treasure Fingers track Lift Me and turned it into a new track of epic proportions. As a bonus we included a couple other pieces from the past to show that this was no fluke at all. Gabriell has a wide array of talent. Enjoy them all!

Royal Palms

Summer may be over but we still have some great warm music to tickle everyone’s ears with. This Royal Palms have been creating quite a buzz across the blogosphere this past week rep’n both tracks, so I thought, why not conform? And conform I did.

Rescue You is soft and smooth remix, which makes it a perfect track for any Sunday. But when the track progresses and the light dance backdrop gives way, the track really gets going. The soft lull of the vocals creates a phenomenal final accent. It’s easy listening at its finest!

Included below is the video to the Penguin Prison remix of Golden Train.

Justin Faust + Bestrack

Here’s a big time combo. Justin Faust and Bestrack throw down simultaneously in Sloppy Chick creating one explosive mix. It comes in after Faust released his latest EP a couple weeks back on Patrick Alavis’ label roXour.

The entire album is hot as hell and can be picked up on beatport or itunes.

Yella Finesse + Pardon My French

Yella Finesse is a fantastic producer coming out of Atlanta, Georgia. At only age 19, his career is just beginning so I wouldn’t be surprised to hear lots of big things from him in the future. Especially since his sound is so refined and he has only been perfecting it for 2 years! In an attempt to search out more info I stumbled across an excerpt from the great Salacious Sound posted back in June. It explains all things Yella Finesse from the man in question himself. It goes:

My real name is John McSween… I got the name Yella (yellow) from my family and friends in reference to my light skin, cause I was the brightest person in the family.
Finesse is just french for “perfection” and “precision”, which is what I really wanna achieve in my music…and there you have it, Yella Finesse…

I was born in London England and moved to New York when I was 5, then Atlanta when I was 7… I’m 18 now, so I’ve been here a while… Just finished first semester of college, and loved every second of it. I’ve been listening to house my whole life (being from England), but I really got into it in 2001 with the drop of Daft Punk’s ‘Discovery’… Thats my all time favourite album… It actually inspired about 60% of my first tracks… I started producing my own tracks in August 2008, and I’m just learning how to DJ with the help of DJ R.E.D.

I just did my first 2 collaborations, one with DJ Handz Down (a great up and coming Hip Hop prducer and good friend, who actually lives 5 houses down from me…lol), and Pardon My French… I’m currently working on a remix for Star Tribe’s new album…

Vivianne

Vivianne’s music is one of a kind and come to us all the way from Stockholm, Sweden. He has a smooth nu-disco vibe that is unmatched by anyone else I have come across. Very melow and chill. Excellent for beautiful days like today.

These two tracks below were released a few years ago but thanks to Tracasseur they are back on our radar. The Swedish blog knows where to find the goods.

You can listen to more songs on Viv`s myspace and get your own copies over on beatport. Most of Vivianne’s productions have been released on Koloni Records.

I and I – The Hardest Part

Adam Sarmiento and Eric Sarmiento captivate our souls with their track The Hardest Part. The track is set to be released November 16th as the first single off the upcoming album The Alpha Future due out sometime in the coming year. They couldn’t have chosen a better track. It has a real soft essence, is extremely haunting and incredibly emotional. If you like what you hear below, you will definitely love the album.

I and I’s last album, White Noise/ Black Music, is pretty spectacular. You can get it off Alchemist Records.

Glass Actor [Distraction + Space Jump]

Glass Actor is Greg Bowler (who is one half  of Los Angeles’s notorious Acid Girls). This time around Bowler used a variety of intricate and innovative electro breaks with mellowed out synth to spawn some glorious beats. Distraction is one of my favourites so far. It’s excellent all the way through and has a real special way of putting sporadic light synth together. Bowler is famous for never being afraid to push a sound in a new direction. And this direction is a winner.

Stay tuned for more Glass Actor releases through soundcloud and myspace.

Alphabeat + Frederik Olufsen

Frederik Olufsen is back! The Danish producer is known for his hard hitting beats, which is why you should expect nothing less from this Alphabeat remix. It contains some powerful dance vocals and that typical Olufsen sound to bring down the house. You are going to want this at your next party.

Find Olufsen back touring early in the new year. You can get those dates, and any late addition, all by clicking right here.

In 2008 Frederik Olufsen had his first signing at the Danish house label Nightology Records, rapidly followed by contracts at various acknowledged labels (15+ atm) such as Coco Machete, Big Fish Recordings, Erase Records, Plasma.Digital etc. with remixes of/by the likes of Lazy Rich, Dirtyloud, Baba Black, FM Belfast, Alphabeat, Tai, Yenn, Dúné and Utku S. just to name a few. Recognized as the “black sheep” and noisy kid in class,

Frederik Olufsen’s unlimited forward thinking and boundless productivity has gained him support from some of the biggest shots in the national and international business, acknowledging him as the busiest producer in Denmark. In few words Frederik Olufsen manages to create a completely unique sound-spectre, by combining his musical past and present which alia results in bassline swept elements of classical music and stupidly large loads of funk.

In late 2009 Frederik Olufsen launched Denmarks hottest electro label Royal Fetish Recordings.

Prince Club

Prince Club came to me the other day through an awesome rendition of Foals’ Blue Blood. It’s a fantastic dreamy mix that harnesses the softer side of the original. The added back-beat gives the track a little bit more flavour all while clubbing it up a little with the added light synth. The Montreal duo are releasing a new EP very soon off Discobelle Records. Stay tuned here for that.

Send these guys some love via facebook.

In less then a year, the two have already released dual EP’s, which were instantly supported by industry heavyweights Mowgli, Round Table Knights, Camel, Brodinski, Edu K, Sinden and the whole Discobelle crew. With numerous club and festival gigs under their belts, including Montreal’s prestigious electronic music festival, Igloofest, Pikinic Electronik and the recent Nuits Sonores in Lyon, France, Prince Club are quickly securing their position among the Major Leaguers. Broke One [Tribute To An Era]

Broke One hit us up with his own tribute to the Old School. It is excellent, so fresh and innovative! I have been in a bit of a lull lately so Tribute To An Era really hits home for me with its soft eclectic segments. It’s a slight deviation from the past  but it seems he can handle anything he puts his mind too. Send him some love on facebook.

Sean Roman

One of Top Billin’s newest signings, Sean Roman, is back making some noise. The Toronto-based DJ and producer has it all. These couple of tracks showcase the unique raw ability Roman puts into his disco-house instrumentals. Where Is My Money & Sore + Fear are no exception. They both radiate a lovely combination of funky house flare.

For more great tracks check the archive or his Soundcloud page.

Sean Roman has got a few other buns in the oven, such as working on a group house music project called White Lions. White Lions are a production team made up of Sean Roman, and Cody LG and Rob Steal (from Rainbros check out their latest release on I’m a Cliche). White Lions is a project that takes house back to its roots while looking towards the future.  Drawing together a wide-range of influences and production techniques White Lions craft timeless evocative tracks that are guaranteed to get dancefloors moving for decades to come.

Gemini Club + Barretso

Barretso has sent us his latest remix to the debut single from Gemini Club’s Ghost. It’s so good and typical Barretso, meaning high power and high energy kinda music. Those who dig the Chilean producers beats should hit up the archives for more great music while staying tuned here for the official release date regarding the original single.

In sweaty loft parties, packed dance clubs, rock n’ roll joints and virtually anyplace with speakers you’ll find Gemini Club, who URChicago called “Chicago’s rising star electro-indie-rock act.” By fusing the energetic and precise aspects of DJing with live vocals, synthesizers, guitars and bass the trio is steadily redefining what “live” means. Hit up their myspace for the “live” version of Ghost.
