Rainbows of Death!

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Rainbows of Death are killing it. I first took notice after I heard that DCUP remix to Style. It’s so fucking good. And then the Australian duo JP and Sam go and ‘King Midas’ a mediocre track by turning it straight into musical gold. I love their style, their flavour, and how they drop it throughout in this Ghostship remix.

Send these guys some love by networking with them on facebook, soundcloud, myspace, and twitter.

Electric Youth + Fare Soldi [2 For 1 Thursday]

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

In case you missed it, Electric Youth released their newest just over a week ago. The duo from Ontario continuously hit all the right chords with me. This time they hooked me with Bronwyn’s sultry vocals and Austin’s ‘in your face’ electric-pop backdrop. Right Back To You is a jam everyone should have in their library. Stay tuned for news on maybe an upcoming album? I’m speculating but they have enough tracks to put something together on an album. For those interested, follow any real news here.

I’m not quite sure when this next track dropped, but Fare Soldi’s new remix to Duck Sauce’s Barbara Streisand is dope. I have been listening to it non-stop this past week. Soldi packs in a pretty aggressive re-work that takes to the original pretty well. For those who don’t know who these guys are, you should click here for more previews. They’re sick.

Fare Soldi is partying in Italy this coming month. Click here for those dates.

alex q + Conforce

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Even the rain can’t dampen these two tracks. I woke up to find it absolutely pouring outside. The weather is pretty shitty if you’re like me and ride your bike in to work every morning. So I’m lacing up with my rain jacket and these two beauties in hand. Here’s to hoping I can harness the power within them them both to help keep me dry.

Germany’s alex q has a dark and ominous sound to him. He shows it off heavily within Cliff. A track that is perfect for a day like today. Fans can get more great tracks available on his myspace or hit em up on facebook for updates.

Conforce, on the other hand, hails from Holland and will be releasing his first EP on Delsin very soon in 2010. Go hit up his myspace for more samples and info regarding the EP.

French Horn Rebellion + Young Empires

Friday, September 17th, 2010

Young Empires are one of my favourite projects to debut this year. Their sound is stunning and so is their direction. All three members have what it takes to get it to the top but together they seem unstoppable. When the newest remix to French Horn Rebellion’s This Moment came across my feed I had to post it. The mix intertwines much of Young Empire’s mixture of soft and vibrant disco creating one great blend. You can hear it below as a promo.

Be sure to check out them out playing all across Ontario. Shows announced last throughout September and October. Check the listings here. Above is a video to Diamond Rings, which is one of the last remaining videos released by the group that we have not featured yet. See the others here.

Into The Archives

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Readers of AN can catch a glimpse of my hectic life through the very fact that posting occasionally seems to stop every now and then. I’m on day 6 of a 9 day week right now (no big deal), but I’m also impatiently waiting to move into my new apartment- something that should have happened a couple of weeks ago. So between working, packing, and finishing some minor wall repairs, life has started to become repetitive.

In the meantime, I have been trying to get some posts in to break out of this cycle but with no free time to search out any new tunes I’ve had to turn to the random button these past couple days. Let me be straight, this is never a bad thing. There always is something that was forgotten, or even better, something that makes me reminisce back to the time it was produced; To that time when this one track made life stand still and placed you in an entire new realm from within yourself- this is what I call a musical paradise.

Welcome to my trip down memory lane.

Russ Chimes – Midnight Club EP Video Trilogy

Friday, September 10th, 2010

The third and final video installment of Russ Chimes’ Midnight Club EP video trilogy showed up the last few days completing the series. Some may have already caught the video a little earlier via youtube. Together they are a unique marketing campaign that has sample music from Russ Chimes’ new Midnight Club EP stream across a trilogy of films depicting an ongoing story. The theme chosen is a kidnapping and the attempt to trace evidence back to the scene and how it was filmed really made the project successful. Blog-goers and fans checked bi-weekly for the newest video release allowing the upcoming EP to stay in the news for an additional two months. Pretty smooth. Anyway, here is what all the hype was about in case you missed it.

If you want the music, watch for the new EP release date here!

Miami Horror!

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Miami Horror continues to evolve. From old-school party jams to modern day pop anthems, the act still has it. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia Miami Horror has evolved into a large electro act including Josh Moriarty, Aaron Shanahan, Daniel Whitechurch and the talented producer and project creator Benjamin Plant. Before the trio tagged along, Plant had already gained a following using the Miami Horror alias to produce a few exceptional remixes, one being Stardust’s Music Sounds Better With You.

As Miami Horror, Plant made his commercial debut in 2008 with a five-track EP, ‘Bravado’, on Virgin Records. The EP features the song “Don’t Be On with Her”, for which a promotional video was released online. Miami Horror has since been signed to EMI Music for distribution in Australia and France.

Check out more Miami Horror here! They are performing all across the United States the next month. If you’re in North America maybe you can make these dates.

The top two featured tracks are from the album Illumination that dropped August 20.2010. Pick it up here! As a little bonus included below are my own personal favourites.

Within the bunch of promo emails recently sent our way came this very special French Horn Rebellion remix to OMD’s If You Want It. Also attached was this unbelievable edit to Brasilia Girl, a soon to be hit track off their forthcoming album The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion. How lucky are we.

Without going into greater detail, they are simply outstanding. You can catch the guys playing a warm up show at CAMP in East London on Thursday, September 9th. If you miss that check them out on the Rock n Roll stage at 6:45 PM, check your local festival listings.
