Hard Mix [Memories + EP]

Hard Mix is a DJ/Producer from Greenville, South Carolina making some fantastic stuff lately. The latest to come my way is a track called Memories. It’s an experimental chiller that’s extremely captivating. He’s labelled himself as a ‘new-age Moby’, which could be fairly accurate but there seems to be more elements within the rest of his songs. As for Memories, it’s been dangerously on repeat and I still can’t seem to get enough. The full length EP should be out later this year which is by far one of the releases I am most excited about. Be sure to watch for the date via myspace.

Hard Mix has released a lot of his music for free, click here for a list of the entire discography. Although support the new EP when it’s released, it will be something you won’t want to miss out on.

Mock & Toof [1,2,3!]

Mock & Toof are Duncan Stump (Mock) and Nick Woolfson (Toof), two London-based producers currently recording for Tiny Stick Records. The guys formed their project back in 2005 (i think), and since have grown to do remixes for The Juan Maclean, Hot Chip, and more. These three tracks below highlight their unique ability to stretch genre’s to new realms while showcasing what versatility sounds like. They are extremely talented.

For all things Mock & Toof, stay glued to their myspace / label.

Phil Weeks, Hector Moralez, Fries & Bridges

Great disco-funk track comes in today thanks to the production between Phil Weeks, Hector Moralez, and Fries & Bridges. Forever This is an uptempo track complete with some subtle disco rifts and a light guitar cover-up to give the song an excellent smooth vibe. The vocals are reminiscent of Gnarls Barkley. Can’t beat it, especially with that filthy horn! Happy Wednesday, we’re halfway to the weekend.

MSTRKRFT – Then + Now

When I was out last weekend, I kept hearing MSTRKRFT new remix to Katy Perry’s California Gurls. It didn’t quite hit me like their past remixes but I think that’s because I don’t really like California Gurls, sorry Katy Perry. Anyway, I started to reminisce about the old MSTRKRFT and started to miss it…

So to celebrate the new, here’s a dash of the old, with a look at some of the many faces, forms, and styles the guys can take on. They are awesome. For more check their myspace.

Katy Perry Feat Snoop Dogg – California Gurls (MSTRKRFT Remix)

MSTRKRFT – Breakaway (Feat. Jahmal from the Carps)

MSTRKRFT – Easy Love

MSTRKRFT – The Looks

MSTRKRFT – Bodywork

The last three came from MSTRKRFTs historic album The Looks, get it here through beatport. 13 other fantastic albums are listed on there as well. I recommend scouting them out, there may be something you haven’t heard before.

Android Automatic – Stayed Too Late + Lost In The Streets

Android Automatic dropped us a line a little while ago introducing a few tracks of his to be featured on his new EP After Summer. The DJ / Producer from Detroit, Michigan first blew us away originally with The Blue Attack (Green Remix) and has now has hit us with a few more excellent light jams. I love his style.

Stay tuned here for more details on the upcoming album. People can also find these tracks and more (available for free!) on Android Automatic’s fairtilzer page.

Sunday Girl + Young Empires.

Young Empires are crazy good. The Toronto-based trio have a very distinguished and unique sound that sets them apart from the competition. They recently used their abilities to rework Self Control, a single from the UK’s Sunday Girl. The track also celebrates the Young Empires UK-tour happening in late July 2010. If you’re in the area, check the list:

Jul 27.10 – Madame JoJo’s // White Heat [London, England, UK]

Jul 29.10 – Start The Bus [Bristol, England, UK]

Jul 30.10 – Koko // Club NME [London, England, UK]

Jul 31.10 – Audio // The Recommender [Brighton, England, UK]

Aug 1.10 – The Captain’s Rest [Glasgow, Scotland, UK]

Aug 3.10 – The Flowerpot [London, England, UK]

Sunday Girl is the solo project of Jade Williams who after some smothering signed to Geffen Records (Universal). The name comes from an old job she had in a Pet Shop where she worked every Sunday and was known simply as Sunday Girl. Her first single intuited as Four Floors brings arrangements Sinthy-pop merged for classical instruments, the music was co-written by the young and produced by Diplo.

DCUP [More Remixes]

DCUP resurfaced a lot for me this past week. I’m not sure why that was but the Australian sure has a resounding amount of skills. With it being the weekend, I thought we could all use a little more DCUP in our lives. Below are some notables not on this site yet- but they should be. For more, check out some previous posts we’ve done on DCUP here. They all hold some unique and delicious beats- especially the Rainbows of Death remix to Style as well as the Phonat mix to Love Hits The Fan.

The Vancouver- based producers have strewn together some fine new wave, disco-house and electro tracks over the past months and now they’re only getting better. Washed Out + Caroline Polachek – You and I

It’s pretty neat when that overwhelming feeling of warmness comes over you when you accomplishing something. For me this tends to happen when I hear a song that makes me shiver. The track is You and I by Washed Out, and features the very talented Caroline Polachek. Together the two come together to create something unreal.

More great tracks are listed on Washed Out’s myspace- take a gander there and then check him out on the Kitsune Maison Compilation 9 album available here.

All Hands To Mylo!

Mylo has been rocking me hard with his remix to Freemform Five’s No More Conversations. The track holds that very traditional ‘Mylo‘ type electro-funk groove that’s so good. Then combine it with the original catchy pop and vocal samples to create an edgy all-round twist.

As a ‘bonus‘, I have also included some of my favourite throwbacks because he hasn’t really hit this site before. If I’m lucky, one of these  may have escaped you over the past few years and this will give you a chance to re-listen to it. Enjoy.

Mylo – Ottos Journey

Mylo – I’m Back (Radio Rip Edit)

A few years back in 2008, Andy Webb from discodelicious showed us how some disco and electro-house singles can blend together so well. Here is his blend of The Whitest Boy Alive, Mylo, and Cut Copy. The mix creates a whole new epic song of its own.

Magnavox – Bamboleo

Magnavox is a producer duo (Ju + Mr.Ropper) formed not so long ago in a place called Spain. Recently they released the Through the Fire Demo which we talked about a little earlier. They return with another drop entitled Bamboleo. It’s very fresh. Magnavox are apart of Le Vedu, which you can catch here! What a sound!

Volta Cab

Volta Cab! Space-disco is off and running with this talented Russian, Konstantyn Isaew. His EP Clarissa released June 14.2010 and is pretty damn good. <Get it here.> Soft and dreamy, the key laced tracks are beautiful and innovative. His earlier stuff is really reminiscent of some great 80s vibes. Check them out below also via EP teasers.

Zero 7 – Destiny [Fred Falke Remix]

Fred Falke resurfaced last week with another delicious soft and sensual mix to Zero 7′s Destiny. The track is brilliantly laced with soft disco touches throughout. This post marks the 12th time in 10 months Falke has hit our site. He is a mastermind. Well versed in the art of dance, funk, and soul! Here is the latest, which I’m sure everyone will give their stamp of approval.

Thunderheist + B-LIVE!

This past week B-LIVE released a brand new set of remixes to the world featuring some pretty ridiculous names: Thunderheist’s Drive In with Memory Tapes + Drop The Lime. Some great pairings! The original track is catchy as hell, and if your taste is in something a little different check the tweaked remixes. Yet again, B-LIVE delivers the greatest goods.

Alicia Keys + MegaMan

You shouldn’t judge a song by it’s cover, right? I think so, and if you have anything against mainstream names, don’t fear this track! The sultry vocals from Alicia Keys only accent the big bass flex MegaMan sports in his remix to Unthinkable. It’s a great club track from the Vegas-based DJ/Producer that will surely help get people moving.

Check out MegaMan’s twitter feed for all news and info here.
