Ladytron + Grey Ghost

It’s been awhile since any new Ladytron remixes came my way. So I guess when Grey Ghost’s mix hit me, you could say I was craving these beats before I heard them. It’s a bit of an echo from a few weeks ago but definitely worth the repost on here. The track is one of my new favourites containing dance breaks and temp drops that are very groove friendly.

Find more remixes and originals available for preview on the artist’s myspace. Ladytron also released a new live album, which you can grab here.

Get Far – Shining Star [Riviera Remix]

Not quite sure where to begin with this track. It plays like it’s coming straight out of the early 90′s with fresh pop-emphasized vocals and holds an unbelievable dirty electro beat that’s real fresh. The combo is making me a little unsure on what year it is but I’m going to say that’s a good thing. So hold on tight, turn it up, and let Toronto-based Riviera take you on a timeless journey.

The one-half of the Mansion duo is pretty talented but with her old counterpart they were unstoppable. I miss them.

Get Far has some interesting stuff too that I was recently introduced too. Check his myspace for a bunch of previews and more on him. He’s hanging out around France and Italy this summer so check here to see if your schedules match up to catch him live.

Louis La Roche Feat. Ad-Apt – Missing You

Louis La Roche rocks it hard alongside Ad-Apt to bring you Missing You. A contemporary piece of musical art with tons of disco-rifts and classy vocal drops. A-Apt helps spice the new track up with rap to top it all off.

If you’re a longtime La Roche fan then you know that this isn’t the first time the disco-house mastermind has returned to a retro-jazz style. I love the combo and felt it best within his earlier work On The Floor, which I ran into over a year ago.

It’s all excellent! La Roche funk is my kinda funk. Stay alert Great Britain! Louis is headed your way in June 2010! Check here for dates.

As a bonus here’s some more ‘forgotten’ gems from Louis La Roche including On The Floor.

Matisyahu + Jakwob

Many of my friends who follow this blog will kind of chuckle to themselves when they hear this Matisyahu remix by Jakwob. Matisyahu used to be ‘the shit’ last summer for excellent summer beats. An international friend led me to him during their stay in Canada. With them back home this track has me reminiscing hard. Jakwob’s remix does it right by maintaining the original reggae backdrop while giving it a rough dub-like edge. I’m digging it a lot. And to those couple of people who introduced me to Matisyahu before disappearing from my life, come back, you’re greatly missed.

I’m assuming Akon did his own touch on the track before Jakwob, so the samples were already there… but I don’t follow mainstream music so I’m not 100% where they came from. They’re not too shabby though.

Baby Monster [Your Body Is A Machine]

I’ve always been a BIGSTEREO fan for awhile now but it took me a little longer than most to jump on Baby Monster bandwagon, the site’s first project in establishing their own record label. But now it’s time to fix that.

Baby Monster’s newest remix to the Good Natured has me singing and dancing. It has a feel good tempo that pushes Sarah McIntosh’s vocals to the forefront of the production through the entire mix. By emphasizing the vocals, the guys detract attention away from the backdrop to allow a multi-changing mix of rapid and heavy flowing instrumentals. It’s hard not to let the infectious disco vibes get to you.

Bitcode [Great Spring]

Bitcode’s brand new Great Spring is delicious. The Spanish producer packs it full with electro breaks and disco splashes making it an excellent way to cool off this summer.

Mario Nieto has been spinning since the late 1990s. In 2001 he became Catalunya’s DMC Subchampion and in 2002 he followed it up by becoming Spain’s DMC Subchampion. Since then he has toured with many bands helping them restore and reach new levels in their instrumentals from within varying disco, funk, and electronica genres. Stay tuned here for more from El Masnou.

Bitcode is signed to Tracy Recordings.

Hickup [Hakazou!]

Hickup is a tech-dirty electro duo based out of Berlin getting tons of attention after Claude Vonstroke gave them the thumbs up a few weeks back. Xylophones, heavy bass hits, the odd vocal rambling all combine in Hakazou! to produce one massive conglomerate of bad-ass twisted tunes. Those interested in this will need to check them out on the Five Years of Dirtybird compilation.

Stay Ali – [New EP May 24]

Staying straight with those chillin disco vibes for your May 2-4 weekend…

I’ve been a big fan of Stay Ali since I heard Auhlau back once upon a time. It had that mellow and electro entanglement I love so much. So it was no surprise that the single 97 hit me just as hard. It stayed along the same lines- just perfect in the way it was put together. So for your Sunday listening pleasure, ease that hangover with Stay Ali.

We celebrate in honour of the new EP that’s set to release tomorrow: May 24.10. Pay close attention to Ali’s myspace for the whereabouts.

Happy May 2-4 weekend!

Arturo [Chivalry's Dead]

From Transcendence to Islomania & Weathervanes, we now have Arturo’s fourth installment to hit the blog. The Canadian producer from BC has some raw talent mixing fresh disco. His newest is laced with some feel good keys that are perfect for those spring mornings. I love the vibe he produces and I feel this could be his summer when more people connect with his stuff. It’s damn good!

Click the above track titles for previous posts on Arturo. Chivalry’s Dead was original released to the public via The Paper Cranes.

Gypsy And The Cat – Jona Vark [Shazam Remix]

Shazam is back! The Perthian electro-dance producer known for his G-funk synths and fantastic remixes is at it again with another great beat attached to a familiar classic. It should easily have everyone hooked. I’m a huge fan of Shazam and Australia is only getting hotter on this site.

As a bonus check out some archival material that will continue where this leaves off with the dance party bumpin’.

Trim The Fat [Riding Rails]

Another epic-odyssey of disco-house dreams fills the air and the man responsible is off getting exercise. The UK DJ & Producer Trim The Fat has people stirring with his latest release Riding Rails. It’s his latest after releasing the album How Strange, which I believe released earlier this year.

To get your hands on a copy visit beatport and buy it here.

Nicky Howard is Trim The Fat and he is signed to type six recordings. He has a very distinct mellowed-out electonic vibe that I dig. And the occasional synth drop doesn’t hurt either. Check myspace for new releases and all TTF news.

Cullen – Easily Impressed [Remixes]

Stumbled into a bundle of hot new remixes to Cullen’s Easily Impressed. Both of these are crazy hot and brought to you by no one other than Calling In Sick & Redial. It’ll be a coin toss to see which one gets played more. Calling In Sick uses a few sporadic samples while changing the tempo throughout to give the song a bit of a boost here and there so it’s hard not to dig it. But Redial brings in a little dark flavour that accents the entire track so well. I think his funky bassline takes the cake for me. So I will give it the slight edge and asterisk it… but what do you think?

As always props goes out to the blogs that hear these sick tracks before us. This time our shout-out goes to dodselectro. Tobias and the crew are consistent at delivering the goods. Here is further proof -> Check them out here…& just for interest sake, Tobias chose the Calling In Sick Remix as his favourite.

HeavyFeet feat. Jenna G – War

Here’s another hard hitting beat that came to us through Louis, Louis. The blog boats interviews and updates on new tunes all while creating a consistently good podcast for apple’s ipopulation. And oh what a beat it is.

HeavyFeet and Jenna G come together to create War- an epic battle of house beats and melodramatic and killer vocals. The track marks the number two release from HeavyFeet’s new label ‘Stamp Beats’… and it’s pure awesome.
