Rhythm Droid [Sunrise On Planet Tokyo]

Rhythm Droid brings in today with a hypnotic synth anthem in Sunrise On Planet Tokyo.  The track is great for DJ’s searching for new tempo beats.  Rhythm Droid is Tokyo-based Devon Hughes who produces eccentric electro beats.   His shows are often innovative with him sometimes hitting the stage with just synths and sequencers- leaving that pesky laptop at home.  Influences vary from Japanese Pop to Detroit Techno, French electro to 70s fusion.  You can feel it throughout all his tracks creating some real bang on shit.

Rhythm Droid is with Eye Industries alongside other notables such as The Twelves, Alan Braxe and Russ Chimes.

GLOVES [Saturday Night]

Saturday Night has me feeling for the weekend.  Another classic GLOVES mix has hit our radar and we think the Melbourne crew have hit it big here. GLOVES are great at producing fresh playful sounds.  They currently have a few local shows in Australia (Dates), but nothing exciting for us westerners unfortunately.

Also!, I also recently heard for the first time the GLOVES mix to This Moment.  It’s real gritty funk disco with some great synthesizer for your ears. There’s lots of different elements for you to dig so I thought I would include it.

JUMP JUMP DANCE DANCE – Show Me The Night [GRUM Remix]

A week ago, we posted some classic GRUM remixes and stated that we needed some new mixes.  Well it didn’t take long but we got our wish.

Friend and fellow blogger Aleks from Discodust sent us an email a few hours ago including this gem.  It’s GRUM’s brand new mix to JUMP JUMP DANCE DANCE’s single Show Me The Night which releases February 26. 2010.  This mix a little different than the others we’ve featured on aerial noise (see past [1][2]).  There seems to be much more emphasis on the vocals.  It’s a little different but if you’re patient you’ll be rewarded as the second half is far better than the first.

Thanks aleks.  Follow up on all things Discodust here, and of course all things about the artist(s) here: GRUM / JUMP JUMP DANCE DANCE

Eddie C [Hold On]

Eddie C (shown on the right) brings us some rare funk vibes today. I can’t get enough of Hold On right now, but what initially caught my eye was the delicious track You’re Welcome.  The Canadian West-Coast native generally mixes experimental funk beats.  If you’re like me and love these, then follow up here for more beats.

Get Away [Edwin Van Cleef Remix]

Edwin Van Cleef is bad ass, and I mean bad ass. He subtly produces heavy hitters that time and time again fall under the radar. The Vicknoise remix to Get Away is a powerful beat and made for those who like to party.  And for those who think they don’t?, be prepared to reconsider… Van Cleef is the one man juggernaut you send in behind enemy lines who will save that party.

Max Vangeli + Russ Chimes [Starry Eyed Remixes]

The 23-year-old Ellie Goulding is gorgeous. And so are her next round of remixes. She starts her Northern European tour March 03, 2010 after a few early dates late January/early February.  If you’re anywhere near the Isles, check the blonde bombshell’s myspace for the dates.  In the meantime…

Russ Chimes and Max Vangeli (+AN21) do wonders for Ellie’s Starry Eyed.  The Vangeli/21 mix is a rip from BBC Radio 1′s Pete Tong’s show.  Lots of synth, rhythm and beats for the dance soul and I love the softening of Ellie’s voice in this mix.  Great pull.  Few days late but worth the respect.

La Roux [Remixes]

La Roux is coming to town early February 2010!  To celebrate, I thought I’d throw up some of her best remixes from the past. But first, who is Eleanor Jackson?

Born March 8, 1988 she is a producer, writer, and vocalist influenced in 1980s synthpop with influences from Yazoo, Erasure, and Depeche Mode to name a few.  Bulletproof has so far become her largest single hitting #1 in the UK and #2 in the US.  Quicksand was a close second.  Whichever you prefer, the UK native will always deliver something pure for dance floor.

If you’re in the area, check out La Roux at Capital Music Hall February 06.10!

DJ Barletta + Gianni Marino [Drop Out]

Barletta just posted his brand new track Drop Out featuring Gianni Marino over at Saintwoods.  Those looking for the usual Barletta explosiveness will be a bit disappointed but I think this track is fucking fantastic.  I love the light synth basked with rough a “Barletta-esque” edge.  The combo creates a retro club effect that’s sensational.  Florida and Texas have tons of tour dates coming your way.  Good stuff is on the horizon, find those dates here.

For more things Barletta, follow him at Saintwoods or check his myspace.

Rune Lindbæk presents Kanakas [Odessa EP]

I recently caught the Odessa EP by Rune Lindbæk presents Kanakas.  Wow. completely amazing on so many different levels.  It may take a couple listens but that powerful funk vibe is fucking awesome.  Rune Lindbæk is a nice fellow from Norway.  Catch him planning a mini-tour beginning February 2010.  It nicely ends in Odessa; fitting for such a great track.  Check the dates here.

The EP hit shelves last November.  If you have not had the opportunity to check it out you must right here!

GRUM [Old Taste, New Flavour]

My favourite remix producer Graeme Shepherd aka GRUM has resurfaced this past week with a few new additions for my library.  It seems a lot of blogs are reminiscing about his banger remixes, especially these dance gems in-particular. In doing so, they brought a bunch of classics back to our speakers.  So restock your library while we wait patiently for the next fantastic release to come our way!

Love Concept [Broadcasting All Night]

Pop heavy, electro flavoured Love Concept turned our heads with some feel good retro disco.  Both of these tracks should pick you up just a little bit.  The Chicago-based project consists of Nick, Ryan, Pilar, Michael and George.  All of whom work together to produce one real retro 80s pop-funk vibe with that electronic twist.  Real fun and playful.  The kind of stuff that creates smiles.  So far the group are staying fairly local with shows throughout Chicago.

Jazzfeezy [Producer Extraordinaire]

Jazzfeezy is a brand new Canadian producer who recently released his debut album Unveiling the Rapture last December.  The single Words Won’t Do featuring August is getting considerable attention from Toronto’s Flow 93.5.  [Listen Here]

Jazzfeezy is Jazz Singh, an established music producer who dabbled in a little bit of everything before finally settling on Hip Hop.  His family immigrated to Canada from India when he was young to a smaller city just north of Toronto.  Early on he was influenced by his mother’s South Asian musical heritage in addition to various film score’s before being infected by R&B, Hip Hop, and the Toronto-scene.

He recently received his diploma from the Harris Music Institute for the Arts in Production and Sound Engineering.  Since he has worked with many of GTA’s most prolific underground rap artists in August, Andreena Millz, Burna, Red Shortz, Phax, Emerson Brooks, Regular Robb, Drew James, Daxflow, Steve Major, Dean Gray, Black Swiss, Deshay Grey, Mr. Ranking, C. Jay, Bass Line, and Darnel Morgan.  All can be found gracing Unveiling the Rapture at some point throughout the album.

We were lucky enough to get a head start on the second single from the debut album, Can’t Get My Money featuring Burna.

Downtown Party Network [Remixes]

Downtown Party Network are one of those duos you should probably keep an eye on as we move into 2010.  They had a decent year last year but showed signs of promise for the future.  One of my favourite tracks to come across the wire in ’09 was a track by Mario Basanov & Vidis called I’ll Be Gone.  The track is real stellar.  It varies in tempo but keeps with a smooth funk vibe giving it a little more flavour.  Heart Break Dancing is an epic synth soundscape which arguably started all the buzz for them.

Also find a few others from the archive listed below.

Bob Sinclair

Bob Sinclair reggae mixes are delicious. They just don’t come around often.  Sinclair  has a way of making soulful beats with powerful low tempo energy. The latest to come my way is, (or was), an unreleased reggae version to his own Kiss My Eyes. The vibe is insanely smooth and so, so good throughout! I wish I could remember how or who it was who passed this to me because you really, REALLY need some props sent your way right about now. There’s two other classics by Sinclair listed below.

One of them is the phenomenal Stardust collaboration in Music Sounds Better With You. The canvas is so good using samples from Chaka Khan’s Fate. Thomas Bangalter, Alan Braxe and, vocalist Benjamin Diamond hit it big with that 1998 single. Bob Sinclair slows it down a bit with his own little funk edit.  I wish a handful or more unreleased Stardust tracks suddenly surfaced to reinvigorate the dance floor. Oh what a day that would be.

Mackintosh Braun

Oregon electro-duo Mackintosh Braun are rising in stock with their impressible singles.  Their debut album The Sound has developed into an impressive success with their soft electric melodies.  Find them hitting Austin, Texas later this month.  Ian Mackintosh and Ben Braun are signed by Chop Shop Records.

“The idea was to create an album that you didn’t have to skip through, hopefully this is one of those albums for people.” – Mackintosh Braun on The Sound.
