"Dancing Is My Remedy"

buffetlibre

Remedy comes in as an extraordinary electro-pop selection.  Hip and danceable, you can’t go wrong with this track.  Little Boots throws down her usual catchy vocals but when you have this type of DJ combo mixing it up, the vocals almost don’t matter.  Put this on at the next party and watch the room move.

Little Boots – Remedy (Buffetlibre vs. Sidechains Remix)

beastsandflowers

Germany’s DIGITALFOXGLOVE released a new disco-electro hit this past week in Beasts and Flowers that’s becoming extremely popular.  The combination of sound within is quite delightful.  A terrific bassline mixed with some full body synth vibes makes the track spectacular. Follow up through myspace for some new stuff from the artist.

Ready Steady Go!

rocksteadygo

Ready Steady Go! returns this Friday, July 31.09 at The Boat in The Kensington Market (Toronto).  The party sounds ridiculous.  DJ Smitty Cent will start and end the night while DVAS hit the stage at 11 and GoldenGirls at 12.  Cover is only $5, doors open at 9. Bring your dance shoes.

DVAS – You’re Amazing

Great Things Come In Pairs.

bagraiders

To Honour the new Shooting Stars video release several artists have dropped great remixes to the track over the past few days.  Two dynamite renditions came in from Shazam and Kris Menace. In my mind Menace wins, but only barely.  Both toss up different and unique twists to an unbelievable original.

cassian

After hearing Cassian lay down an intense remix to Miami Horror here.  It wasn’t hard to find something else funky and great by them. This funky mix to Damn Arms’ Destination is right fresh.  Another Modular possible future great.  Follow their myspace to check out yet another great remix to Shooting Stars.  It may even be better than the two we could get our hands on.  Find it here!

BONUS!

I ran into this gem about a week ago. Here I was at 3 AM and a little more drunk than usual.  The night was great- cool breeze, warm air.  I hit the balcony, lit one up and then this track came on.  It made me lay back, relax, and reminisce a bit.  Straying a little bit from the electro-side of things this bonus track reminds me much of what the Silversun Pickups had in Lazy Eye without the weak lyrics. I hope you dig this instrumental like I do.

Dance Art For The Gifted

chimes

Russ Chimes released a stellar remix a couple weeks ago that appears to be… nowhere?  Kudos to Trials & Tribulations along with Blouse for getting this our way.  The very synthed out, catchy, rhythmic, sound of Chimes returns with this soon to be hit.  Excellent grab if you don’t have it.  I’m not going to highlight much about Chimes, by now we all know he’s awesome.  Check out the oldies via hype machine if you haven’t already.

noiseup!

Barcelona’s own DJ-Producer, David Borras Paronella aka DJ Noise Up, is finally settling down after a crazy couple years.  His track Puerta Plata gained recognition after it was selected by David Amo & Julio Navas as a track for the Brazilian Tour 2007.  The track was further featured on the albums Cassagrande So Fresh! and Discazo 2007 sparking a promo tour across the Dominican.  Since then, he’s accomplished his first international tour with stops in Madrid, Valencia, Stockholm, and Moscow.  In July 2008, Paronella with three friends created YALL, which is a collaborative project between various skilled DJ’s (including Nighty Max who we touched on last May).  I was a little confused with what YALL was about before but it’s coming around to me now.

Over & Over Again is a brand new electro-based instrumental.  Real simple and chill- easy to lose the last hours of the night too.  The B.Rich remix is a little dated but very danceable and showcases much of what Noise Up brings to the hardwood.  Definitely something to pick you up again after the last track.

Very Friendly Beats

Friendly Fires just released their new video to the recent single Kiss of Life.

Watch it here.

The track is pretty refreshing.  With an unreal percussion and heavy vocals, Friendly Fires are re-emerging in style by creating something new for the dance floor.   The traditional vocal style is back, accompanied with some great electro-pop sequences.  The hook is sick!  The trio are making a quick stop in Toronto next month to unleash a DJ set at Lee Palace (Aug 10.09).   So until then, enjoy the new video.  It’s mad fresh.

Cinnamon Chasers

cinnamon chasers

Cinnamon Chasers are my favourite solo project when it comes to producing electro-pop melodies.  The track Luv Deluxe continues to be one of my top played instrumentals this year.  Since it came out, Russ Davies is only getting better.  He is known more for the softer/indie take on electro-pop instrumentals.  Lately his tracks are accompanied by dreamy soft vocals; although, its nothing to heavy that would detract from Davies signature sound.  If you want to follow up, be sure to check out the various tracks the Cinnamon Chasers are promoting via myspace.

Diamond Cut recently took notice and churned out a remix to the Chaser’s track I Like Watching You.  Adding a bit of flare and a catchy dance vibe the two combine to create one dreamy disco track.

Alex Metric is Awesome.

metric

I came across a new Alex Metric remix about a week ago through Some Velvet Blog.  The track is stellar. I don’t know why I neglected to post it until now.  My bad.  It’s excellent so things will all balance out in the end.

A.Metric is currently gaining bookings and playing on a mini-European tour.   The Head Straight EP, Metric’s new work, dropped mid-May on beatport.   He continues to be one of the more sought out remixers (Ladyhawke, Phoenix, Autokratz, +).  Metric does things a little different with this Bloc Party track.  A sure dance party banger.  To be honest, I haven’t had this feeling over a BP track since Banquet came out- way, way back.

Rex The Dog.

rex

After a short break to the cottage here’s what was waiting for me at home.

Rex The Dog recently released a new remix to Fever Ray’s June single Triangle Walks.  The track rings 80s disco and includes Rex’s signature sound.  Having an unusual interesting flare with the synth and boards, Rex takes the original for a walk.   This track is for you if you’re in the mood for something a little retro.

final-10k-tour-flyer7c28551

Schaatz on 317

Discovered in France after playing a few gigs early this spring, Schaatz first broke their sound to the world via the London radio program Hello Goodby Resonance 104.4 FM.  They must have made some noise.  Viva Radio NY soon followed and they will be featured live on the French program Telekim in September.

They are currently staying busy by making music for a short horror film that replica’s the style and tradition of Argenta, Jean Rollin.  Needless to say, this brand new project has been moving extremely fast over the past few months.  So we are proud to be one of the first to showcase the dark, ambient, and electric vibes these two produce.  A rare exclusive. Enjoy, and don’t forget to hit them up on their myspace with any comments and love.

Dance Til You’re Dead

yeahyeahyeahs

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are hitting the city in a couple weeks (Jul 19.09) thanks to the delightful lineup within Ottawa’s Bluesfest.  With recently adding over 70 (Seventy) shows in the Market the event is becoming better and better.  In other words, finding a great show in the Nation’s Capital the next couple of weeks should not be hard.  The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are worth the mention after coincidentally running into a pretty decent remix to Heads Will Roll by DIGIRAATII. So as a little 1- 2 punch, go see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Bluesfest and check out this track.
